Formal education will give you the necessary tools of knowledge to start working in your field of study. Skills are based on your tools of knowledge & the experience that you gain along the course of your career. In my opinion, both are equally important because if you do not know the answer to a certain situation/ question, you will try to give an answer that is based on an educated guess which is is usually reliant on your knowledge & experience that you gained at sometime in the past. Working at an isolated clinic & needing urgent medivac for head injury. I felt as if I was running out of options/ helpless for helping that patient.
