Looking for job opportunity

What type of job are you looking for?

Any hospitality job, administrative, customer service, supervisory, sales and marketing. Anything that i could utilize my skills and knowledge to enhance my career development.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I can speak English and Tagalog fluently.

What State are you looking to work in and why?

Guam because i believe is a beautiful country and peaceful place. My friends family migrate in this country and i heard a lot of good things.

What field do you currently work in?

Currently i am working in hotel industry as Rooms Controller Supervisor and will move to Reservation Supervisor.

What fields have you worked in before?

I worked in Sales and Marketing as Sales Executive and Real Estate field as Receptionist/Secretary.

What qualifications do you hold?

I am holding to be a top notch er when it comes to Sales even when i am in the hospitality yearly being top when it comes to up selling rooms. Continuously holding the title until now. A team player and can supervise a team. I am as well a departmental trainer in the Front Office. Excellent in communication skills. Computer literate, excellent in internet browsing, MS Word, Excel and Power Point.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

For me i can say both are important formal education and skills. This two should be together without this two you cannot live on your daily lives. For example in our country even you had skills but if no formal education they are not giving you a good position beside they are downgrading you. Not giving a chance beside when you have excellent skills for sure you a formal education.

Describe the benefits of working with others

That's a good question, for me working with others will give you more better result as there brainstorming that each other can analyze and in the end it will led to an excellent result. Being a team player working to each other will end reach the goal of a team. It will be more fun and enjoyable that is the good thing in a way.

Describe the benefits of working alone

For me working alone is just a daily basis. It will really let me think and be more careful when doing my report. I will be more responsible as this is the task i should do. I can plan and organize my day so that in the end everything will be fine.

What was your worst working experience?

Well just recently being a rooms controller supervisor i am the one controlling the room allocation. If the occupancy is high as 100% rooms are back to back. The problem is lack of staff of the housekeeping that's why guest will wait even the check in time is 1400 hrs.It will come to the point that i am calling the guest to check out as the other guest is waiting the room. Housekeeping need to rush the room and to be able to expedite i will be the one to join and clean as well.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I guess i learned to be self-confident to whatever decision i made i make sure that i should stand for it. Being honest and firm to my principle throughout will make me feel being happy and contented.

What unique skills do you have?

For me the unique skills i have is being computer expert. I am not IT, but i can do anything in computer. I can remove virus with my own and find solution on my own. I can learned anything with it and i can easily adapt anything.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is to become one of the Executive Management of one of prestigious hotel or company and someday to have my own establish business.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Well i can say meeting different nationality. To find out their culture and values that's makes me excited. Especially when i am in the Front Desk i love talking to our guest and mingle to them.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

When the guest is so demanding and will complain.

Work Experiences:

ROOMS CONTROLLER SUPERVISOR SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, DUBAI – October 1, 2010 to March 25, 2011

• Responsible of rooms controlling, analyzing, planning of room inventory and supervising all the rooms’ arrival especially the VIP guest. Assisting the special request and amenity of the guest to be able to have a smooth operation of the front office department. Supervising the Front Office team for the billing and payment making sure that everything will be fine upon checked out of the guest. Assisting as well the Guest History Manager for her task for the profile of the loyalty guest. Coordinating with Housekeeping and Engineering for the project of maintenance of all the rooms in each year. Group handling and coordinating with Sales department if there is any group arrival then giving instructions to the Front desk to be able to have a smooth check-in operation of the group. Assisting front office admin paper work as well.

SENIOR FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST (Acting as FO SUPERVISOR) SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, DUBAI UAE – October 20, 2007 to September 30, 2010

• Take regular part in meetings and shift handovers.

• Cooperate with employees from all departments, in particular Housekeeping, Accounting and Reservations.

• Welcome and check in guests, taking account of the established standards (choice of suitable room, completion of bookings and entry into the computer, handover of the room pass and the key, safeguarding payment, luggage organization).

• Check out of departing guests in accordance with the established standards (drawing up of guests’ bills, processing using the computer system).

• Preparation and processing of group arrivals – carry out check in. Responsible for cash inventory, Cashing cheques and bills of exchange in foreign currencies for hotel guests in accordance with the credit policy.

• Take over any other tasks and special projects which arise in the course of business.

• Daily checks on the credit limit list in agreement with the supervisor. Know all tasks on the central telephone switchboard (acceptance and passing on of telephone calls, faxes, messages, etc.)
