What field do you currently work in? Currently a Chef de Partie in Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa in Dubai, U.A.E. What fields have you worked in before? I was working at the Shangri-la Hotel Dubai for six years as a Demi-chef de Partie and Manila Peninsula Hotel with a Demi-chef position as well for almost a year. What qualifications do you hold? Graduated in two year Computer Technology course and graduated also in Professional certificate in Culinary Arts course at the American Hospitality Academy Philippines. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? For me, base on my experienced in kitchen as a chef it would be both a formal education and a skills. Though kitchen requires a more comprehensive training it also has a formal education. Skills must be there always to become a strong chef. Describe the benefits of working with others They are giving a one month vacation in after a year of working, bonus every year, and free accomodation. Describe the benefits of working alone There will be no time limits of working, if work needs a long time to spend I can do it until the job is done. What was your worst working experience? kitchen was shut down due to Gas leaks, can not continue cooking. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important lesson that I have learnt throughout my career is to love my job, my work and to grow more and more. What unique skills do you have? Maybe Basketball. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To be an Executive Chef someday. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspects in my field or work is that in kitchen there is no ending or limits of knowledge. You are learning each and everyday because like for example: once you master Indian Cuisine you either try another kitchen like Thai Kitchen, Arabic kitchen, or to any types of cuisine which you wanted to work in for a more wider exposure.
