What type of job are you looking for?

Currently looking for position as Civil Supervisor for work on construction and re-building of infrastructure work such as water, wastewater, roads, building, drainage.

What nationality are you?

U.S. Citizen

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Haiti. To assist with the construction and re-building of their infrastructure damaged from the 2010 earthquake.

What countries have you worked in?

U.S.A.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

U.S.A.

What field do you currently work in?

Civil Infrastructure

What fields have you worked in before?

Over thirty years experience in the field of heavy civil construction including interstate highways and bridges, dams for irrigation and power plant cooling water, commercial office buildings, parking structures, water and wastewater treatment plants, raw water pump station, airport construction and rehabilitation, and river and drainage rehabilitation projects. Included onsite positions in owner relations, site safety coordinator, quality control, and construction inspection. Project design and detailing for roadways, river and drainage rehabilitation, pipelines and water storage tanks. Experience in project design, surveying layout, and field construction.

What qualifications do you hold?

(2) Associates degrees. 30 years experience in the office and field for construction.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Both. Formal education for initial learning and design ideas. Field experience for hands on learning and to see how things can be designed to make them easier to build, more cost effective, and have a longer life span.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Pool resources to review and work out complex problems. Be able to gain knowledge and experience from people who have done different work, and/or approached problems in different ways.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Sometimes easier to concentrate. Less distractions until different ideas/methods can be considered.

What was your worst working experience?

Being assigned to a different project before I finished the project that I was currently working on.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Always approach problems with an open mind. Don't get a "I've always done it this way, so it must be right" attitude.

What unique skills do you have?

Combination of client interaction, office design, field inspection, field construction, and heavy equipment operation.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Assist with a construction or re-construction project where the work is being as more of a necessity, like re-building areas or countries after natural disasters.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Being able to take a design set of drawings done in 2 dimension, and create a 3 dimensional real life working structure.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Some projects are repetitious. Always look for ways to improve production and lower cost to keep things more interesting.
