An American looking for a job in Haiti

What type of job are you looking for?

As an International Relations major, I am looking for a job in any International Organization,or any US agency/The State Department in Haiti.

What nationality are you?

I am an American Citizen currently living in Haiti.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak English fluently. I speak Creole. I understand French.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking for a job in Port-au-Prince, Haiti because that is where I am currently living.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in the United States, Guyana and Haiti.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I have an American Passport. Therefore, I do not need a visa to travel into any country.

What field do you currently work in?

Currently, I am unemployed.

What fields have you worked in before?

I've worked in a department store and a shipping warehouse in the US. I have given technical support to Digicel/Telecom Solutions in Haiti and Guyana.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Relations. A Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Associate in Arts degree.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I believe that both formal education and skills are very important today. Formal education is what we get in school and what prepares us. It is what we learn in school that helps our motor skills to develop. And it is those skills that we apply to the jobs we find today.

Describe the benefits of working with others

I am an excellent team leader and a good player as well. I enjoy working with others because a strong relationship with co-workers can make the work place easier.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Being alone is just as good. When I'm alone I can concentrate more on whatever work that needs to be done.

What was your worst working experience?

I have never had a bad working experience.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have learned to be diplomatic and cordial towards every situation.

What unique skills do you have?

I am an excellent organizer.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

to work at an International Organization, where i can express myself in English and creole. Helping the Haitian community in every way possible. Or to work for the State Department/ Federal Government in Haiti.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

International Relations- one of the most interesting things I find in my major is that I get to travel abroad and get t o meet all different kinds of people.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

the least interesting is that if I would have to travel for a job, I would be away from family.

What are my strengths and weaknesses?

My strengths are: my ability to communicate coherently to a group of people. My weakness is failure. Just the thought of losing makes me weak. So, as a result, I am always optimistic.
