Haiti. its a country I've been reading about through TBN's newsletters and would like to be part of the rebuilding team. What countries have you worked in? I have been working in Kenya all my life. However in April this year, I worked with Hart security on a maritime job that covered the Kenyan and Somali coastline. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None. One has to apply when there is job opportunity abroad. What field do you currently work in? Am currently working in a Marine Contractors' company as a Secirity Shift Manager. What fields have you worked in before? I have been working with the Kenya Navy as a seaman rising from an Able Bodied Seaman to routine boat coxswain, to patrol boat coxswain, to fast patrolcraft coxswain to logistic ship's coxswain. What qualifications do you hold? 1- Primari education 2- Seaman class 1 3- Competent Coxswain 4- Navigational watchkeeper Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both are valuable. Formal education gives one the footing to aquire skills in any field.Skills learnt may surpass formal education where one stays in a given field for a long duration. Describe the benefits of working alone Brainstorming is regular, learnt skills are instilled and hardly leave your head. What was your worst working experience? When working as a coxswain of a logistic ship, something went wrong, the navigational aids died and we went aground in a remote coastal town where we couldnt refloat the vessel till after 7 days due to the low tides then. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? There is always something new in your field which you havent learn yet. Find out what it is because it will become handy someday. What unique skills do you have? Am a counsellor. I can talk to anyone who is undergoing stresful moments and relax his mood before advising positively. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? One that i will be able to perform to my boss/employer's expectations and satisfaction and also give me a chance to improve my performance. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Be a role model for all behind me and a legacy on exit. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Where one is selfish with the knowledge he holds and monopolises tasks.
