I'm good at entertaining or salesWhat type of job are you looking for? Hospitality, or Tour Guiding. Kayaking, Rafting, Hiking. I will need to learn all the different plants and animals and such. I am a very fast learner. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English, Native What State are you looking to work in and why? Hawii, To me the sky is the limit and I want to hit the limit. I want to relocate for the adventure and nicer weather than were I live now. What field do you currently work in? I own a small Construction Co. www.pleasantviewllc.com I did run a hunting preserve for a few years and have a lot of guiding experience/entertaining/hosting What fields have you worked in before? Construction, Car sales, Agriculture, Guiding hunts and Hospitality. What qualifications do you hold? Management, Equipment operating, Sales, Hospitality, Entertaining Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? In most fields I feel skills are more important. For instance, in construction I have seen over and over again, Building engineers make huge errors on building designs. They lituraly seem clueless on the process of building. Sure they can draw stuff as there degree proves. If they had skill training in building they could draw things that can actually be built without needing to redraw blueprints 5 times till we contractors can finally say, ok that we can build. Describe the benefits of working with others When working with others there can be a motivation brought from the right group of people. Also if a helping hand is needed there is someone there to help. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone there is much less confusion, as long as you know what your doing you can do just that with no interruption What was your worst working experience? I was a labor on a mason crew as a teen. I was full of energy and ambition, co workers saw that as a opportunity. I felt it was our obligation as a teem of labors to do the job. They began to just stand around when they realized I would only work harder if they did stand around. I did this because I knew it would reflect on all of us if the job wasn't done. My body only held out to the abuse I put it through for so long. I mentioned the problem to the boss and he said he had noticed this. He had no one else and asked if I would take charge of handing out orders to these lazy men. I said if you want I'll do my best. Well at 15 years old men in there 20's don't respond well to a teenager handing out orders even though the boss told them to listen. They found ways to lash out and make my job very hard. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Be very upfront with co workers and employers about problems or suggestions. If a suggestion is given and is not used, if something goes wrong you can't be blamed. In other words communicate. What unique skills do you have? I am very personable, people seem to very quickly respect, trust me and feel like they can talk to me like a best friend, even if they have just met me. I have a gift to sense peoples emotions, I then can use that ability to get to know someone very fast. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A Job were I could help people in some way but still make a good living for myself. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Currently doing construction I meet many people and I do need to walk them through there ideas for there projects. What I mean is, most people cant say what they think when it comes to designing a home project. I have to get a feel for the things they worry about, such as child safety, meditation, comfort, and such and mix it with what they are trying to say about there building project. Sometimes it almost seems like its my ideas but at the end they feel as if it was there idea. This allows them to take pride in it even though I built it. My focus is making this happen, I love it when my clients brag about their design. They paid for it they should feel proud. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I am to easily interested so there is nothing that does not catch my interests. What is you main goal in life? My main goal in life is not riches though this is a goal. My main goal is to be someone that I would be proud to know. I want to leave this world knowing that I have held my honor and pride high. I am honest, treat others with respect, give advise when I can or just listen when one needs to talk. I want to set a standard for others to follow. This is a hard goal to reach and a big challenge but hey I like a challenge. How can potential employers contact you? Email garett@pleasantviewllc.com or call (570) 412-5514 |
