When we vacation in Kona every winter, we don't understand why we live where we currently live. What field do you currently work in? Construction What fields have you worked in before? Civil utilities, Information Technology, Healthcare IT, Structural Steel buildings What qualifications do you hold? 4+ years of manufacturing and civil utilities Sales / Estimation / Project Management. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider my skill to be more valuable because I have learned them from knowledgable advisors and colleages or trial and error. These skills have guided me to be a successful team leader and player, to be a proficient estimator and I learned my professional material take-off skills on the job. I was taught contract negotiation and time management and scheduling on the job also. My experience in being the point of contact for internal team, customers, and materials suppliers. I see my formal education mostly as a base for knowledge and marker of personal committment. Describe the benefits of working with others I don't think that anyone can fully explain the benefits of working with others. Being part of a winning team that customers are proud to tell others about. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone I find it easier to consentrate for longer periods of time. What was your worst working experience? Working with a disgruntled coworker that left the business shortly, but he tried to blame lost sales (to superior management) on me when it was his fault. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Upfront honesty and good communication are most important to avoiding conflict and scheduling issues. What unique skills do you have? IT background provides increased understanding of network and computer issues and electronic communications. Structural clearspan steel building experience. Civil underground utilities experience. 800+ material take-offs performed. 200+ projects managed, 15-40 at any given time. Purchasing, scheduling, team lead, and point of contact experience. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job consists of freedom of time and supervision so I can manage my own time effiecintly to make sales and address issues proactively. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Working with professionals to produce new projects innovatively and creatively. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Monotany.
