What type of job are you looking for?
I would like to find a short-term job which provides quite a lot of time for communication (mainly oral). I would like to be a translator and/or interpreter, so one of the main aims of my time spent abroad is improving my language skills.
What nationality are you?
Hungarian
What languages do you speak (and at what level)?
My mother tongue is Hungarian, I can speak English fluently, and I have an intermediate level Italian language exam.
What country or area are you looking to work in and why?
I would like to work in England, and in a part of the country where I can hear accentless native speech quite often. It is really important for me to perfect my pronunciation because of my career plans (translation and interpriting).
What countries have you worked in?
So far I have been to some European countries for shorter periods( Italy,Scotland, England, Iceland etc.), but I have not worked in any of them until now.
What countries do you have a visa to work in?
As a citizen of a country which is one of the members of the European Union, I have the possibility to work in a lot of European countries. I do not have a special visa at the moment.
What field do you currently work in?
I have two jobs now. I work as a full time back office administrator in a bank, and at the same time I am a part-time English teacher in a language school.(The fomer one is a summer job, but I have been doing the latter one for almost two years.
What fields have you worked in before?
I have worked in quite a lot areas up to now. Since the age of fifteen I have always had a summer job. I have done some physical work, I have been a cashier,too; but mainly I worked as a hostess or a clerk.
What qualifications do you hold?
I got my English BA university degree(with Italian minor) in July.
Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
In my opinion both of them are very important. Skills are necessary for effective work, but for the theoretical part of a job ususally formal education is also necessary. The best situation is when an individual has them together.
Describe the benefits of working with others
Working with others has many advantages. Besides the good atmosphere of working in a team, it is also essential that task can be divided and controlled through more levels. Cooperation is a good method for team building, and while worikng with others we can learn a lot from their knowledge and experiences.
Describe the benefits of working alone
Working alone is more suitable for those who has their own way of solving problems. It can be better in the case of an individual who has his/her strict personal rules, methods and deadlines, and who is often frustrated in cases when the success of a project depends on other people,too.
What was your worst working experience?
My worst worikng experience was some years ago in connection with a summer student job. The task was to produce a predefined quantity of elements for clothes in terrible circumstances. That summer was extremely hot, the machines couldn't stand the heat so they frequently broke down, but this was a huge problem since we got our salary according to our performance.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
Time is money. It is a cliche, but definitely true. It is very important to inform everyone correctly involved in a work, try to be punctuate, give clear instructions, meet deadlines, and try to bulid a good relationship with the colleagues. (Not only because it ensures a good environment for the work, but also because it provides you with and a continuous source of help.)
What unique skills do you have?
I think I am quite an opened person,therefore; I can easily and quickly form a good realionship with people. My level of loadability is high, and I have good organizing skills. I hate being bored, so it is not a problem for me if I need to deal with more things at the same time.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
In my dream job I would deal with interesting and exciting tasks for a high salary. I would like to do something that is challenging and enjoyable for me, but at the same time means responsibility, so gives me the chance to be proud of my knowledge, problem solving and conflict handling skills. For example, I could imagine myself as an EU conference interpreter dealing with global problems (starving, corruption, third world, animal rights etc.).
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
The most interesting aspect of my field is that it works like a bridge. It connects countries, cultures, and people. It helps in discussing global issues and solving problems of people with different backgrounds.
Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?
Maybe some boring theoretical readings.
