Electrical maintenance technicianWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for a technoligy job that requires technical maintenance, problem solving, and a hard worker who is also a thinker. What nationality are you? American form the U.S.A. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I only speak English at a great level. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Iceland - for the Geothermal plants and the chance to work, learn, and study there. What countries have you worked in? Only in the U.S.A. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None yet. What field do you currently work in? Electrical Maintenance and Technician work. What fields have you worked in before? Power Plant Technology, high voltage power distribution and generation. What qualifications do you hold? AA degree in electronics engineering technology MEGGER Substation Technician Certified Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider both very important. The skills are important to make the work and workload less. With good skills a team or individual can accomplish more work in less time. With a formal education planning and organizing can be teamed up with problem theoretical solving skills and reduce down time of machinery. Describe the benefits of working with others Work can be divided between the subject matter experts and help is always avialable for anything from problem solving to heavy lifting. Teams also work a little faster depending on the numbers involved and prior planning that has been done. Also safety is a consideration. Having somebody else look over your work allows for fewer mistakes. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone, there is not need for discussion groups or getting somebody elses opinion. Individuals can also handle the simple tasks that do not require two or more people such as assessments, gathering supplies, and cleanup. What was your worst working experience? In the hot weather of Iraq pulling cable for over a half mile for a building that needed priority electrical power. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? When working with a team, the leader needs to be a strong and ethical leader and the followers need to listen to the leader. What unique skills do you have? Hard working, trouble shooting skills, extensive experience in power plant technology, power distribution and maintenance, and the understanding of the technology used in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working on a team with others in a close nit community. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Being able to connect a generator to a cable to a building and watching the whole system work perfectly. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? There is nothing that I would consider the least interesting. What would I expect to learn from working in my field? I would like to learn better methods of power distribution and power generation.
