English as a Foreign Language

What type of job are you looking for?

I just completed my BA in Foreign Language and an internship as an ESL teacher. I am interested in acquiring a position as an EFL teacher abroad.

What nationality are you?

American

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English is my mother tongue and I have tested B2 in German. I can read Dutch and am currently learning Yiddish.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am hoping to work in Iceland; my distant relatives came here from Iceland and I would like to spend time there and try to learn the language in my free time. It is also a very beautiful country!

What countries have you worked in?

I haven't worked abroad, although I have studied in Germany and France.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

The US.

What field do you currently work in?

I just graduated, so I am currently working part-time at the job I held during school (as a cashier) while I apply to jobs.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked on a dairy farm, as a waitress, and doing filing and promotions at a movie theater.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a BA in Foreign Language and completed an ESL teaching internship.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider a combination of both necessary. I believe an education gives you the knowledge you need to take on hard problems of theory and independent thinking and skills give you the tools you need to follow through.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others allows for input from many different points of view and also a valuable network beyond your own to utilize in any given project. Other people have different experiences, and sharing them can be a very useful learning tool.

Describe the benefits of working alone

When you work alone you can get things done at your own pace, which can often be quicker than organizing groups.

How can potential employers contact you?

The best way to contact me is via email, at jamin_eaton at yahoo.com
