| My name is James Finch-Smiles. I am a British Passport holder and British Citizen but have been in Zimbabwe for some considerable time where I served my apprenticeship in the machine shops and later as a journeyman until moving into the motor trade environment. I am married, 56 years of age, with two grown up children. My daughter is living and working in the UK and my son is with my wife and I here in Lusaka, Zambia. I am a qualified Fitter & Turner by trade, with a trade test passed in the vehicle & heavy machine department in the then territorial compulsory army service. (1974) The last eight years here in Lusaka, Zambia, working as a Workshop Manager for a local road construction company with plant and vehicles comprising of heavy bull dozers, graders, excavators. wheel loaders, scrapers, etc and heavy vehicles such as International and Leyland Road Train haulage trucks, with lighter vehicles such as Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan, etc. At the present time, I have a staff of 51 which is mad up of senior mechanics, mechanics electricians, assistant mechanics, panel beaters and general workers. I report directly to the Managing Director of Raven Worx Construction Ltd. My family and I live and work on the property (Yard) which is a twenty acre plot. This space mainly for the plant, machines and vehicles. There are a number of generating plants from light 2.5 Kva portable sets to heavy 400 Kva units that I have under my section which I have many years of "hands on" experience with.
