ils -paramedic/emt-i What type of job are you looking for? i am looking for a job as an EMT-I/I.L.S paramedic in either Iraq OR Afghanistan. What nationality are you? i am a Zimbabwean by nationality and birth. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? i am fluent in written and spoken English. i can read but do not understand Arabic and i have a little French at high school level. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? i would like to work in Iraq or Afghanistan because i believe that not only will my skills be of benefit to the people i come in contact with but also i will learn a lot from being in these countries. What countries have you worked in? i have only ever worked in Zimbabwe. What countries do you have a visa to work in? i do not currently have any visa to work in another country. What field do you currently work in? i am currently working part-time as a sports medic/first aid teacher at the Harare International School and i do volunteer work at motor vehicle accidents. What fields have you worked in before? i have worked in the clothing industry from manufacture up to and including retail. i have worked in warehousing and stores in the retail sector and i have worked in a supermarket. i have worked for an ambulance service and as a sports medic with the Zimbabwe National XV rugby team,the Zimbabwe 7's mens and women's teams as well as a medic for several top local rugby clubs. What qualifications do you hold? i have O an A level and my emergency services training was done at Medical Air Rescue Services in Harare,Zimbabwe.i successfully completed the Ambulance Technician/EMT-B course and went on to complete the Zimbabwean EMT course/ EMT-I in 2003. in 2010 i successfully completed the American Heart Associations Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support course and i am a registered A.C.L.S practitioner. i am registered with the Allied Health Practitioners Council Of Zimbabwe since 2001. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? i think both are of equal importance as they are interlinked and complement each other. formal education is fine but it only teaches you theory so skills are learned on the job and sharpened with practice. Describe the benefits of working with others i believe it is important to be part of a team working towards achieving the same goal each person playing their part in the final result. Describe the benefits of working alone the advantage of working alone is that you can take the initiative to achieve something without the hindrance of working in a group. What was your worst working experience? my worst working experience was working in a shop selling clothing. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? the most important lesson i have learnt throughout my career is to never take anything for granted. nothing is ever as it seems. What unique skills do you have? i am a both a people person and an individual.i can work in a team or alone and i am willing to take the initiative. i am willing to learn from subordinates and superiors as i believe you can learn something from anyone its just a matter of opening your eyes and your mind. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? my dream job would be to head an ambulance service that covers road, air evacuations and emergency training as well. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? the most interesting aspect in my field is how each patient is different. two patients may have the same medical condition but they are different because each individual patient is unique. that makes it more challenging. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? at times there are some necessary but mundane tasks you have to perform like cleaning your equipment and ambulance after every patient. these are very important and routine tasks but not very exciting. how would an organisation benefit from me as a person and as an employee? i bring with me a wealth of personal experience in a wide variety of fields. i am willing to learn and to teach. i work well as part of a team and i am able to work on my own. i always give 110% when i am working or at play.
