Skilled carpenter / SuperintendantWhat type of job are you looking for? Skilled labor,carpenter,welder/fabricator,construction management What nationality are you? American What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English fluently and Spanish What country or area are you looking to work in and why? (Iraq) I am looking to expand my experience in the construction world while using my skills to help abroad. That and heard there is good money to ba made (I can't lie that's a big motivator) What countries have you worked in? U.S.A. What countries do you have a visa to work in? Never looked into working in foreign countries before. What field do you currently work in? Superintendant for Great White Drywall one of Idaho's largest commercial framing/sheetrock and solid surface contractors. I have ran AAA public works jobs such as the Norco Life Sciences building which clocks in just under 100,000 Sq feet and is located on the Boise State University campus. What fields have you worked in before? Commercial carpenter, Residential carpenter, Automotive mechanic, Welder/Fabricator, when I a teenager my dad made me hold my electrician apprentice card so I could do all his grunt work. What qualifications do you hold? Welding (some have lapsed some are current but re-certifying would be easy in almost any process),10 hour OSHA card,certified to build and inspect scaffold,certified in fall protection/restraint,certified to operate boomlifts,certified to operate manlifts and arial platforms. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I belive that both are important.However actions speak louder than words or in this case aquired knowledge speaks louder than degrees. We have all met someone with degrees as far as the eye can see, he understand theories and formulas but he couldn't build a square to save his life. Now on the other hand I have met countless capenters that can build just about anything and never understood a simple 3'-4'-5' is A squard + B squared = C squared. Describe the benefits of working with others I enjoy working in a team enviroment because you can really productionize your work environment. I have been told many times I am an excellent teacher however I always listen to other peoples ideas and input. I have been a superintendant for about five years now and my crews have always enjoyed working under me simply because I am a team player and will jump done in the treches and get dirty. Describe the benefits of working alone I am an extremely motivated person so working by myself is a great environment. I take alot of pride in my work and I enjoy a good challenge. What was your worst working experience? Being on a job site when someone fell and died. University of Idaho campus in Boise Idaho. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To be humble I am a young man who has made smart decisons and climbed a long ladder early. The position that has put me is being in charge of guys older than my own dad. I had to learn to listen to others and still be able to firmly plant my foot when I made a decision. What unique skills do you have? I have done more design/builds than I ever want to remember but no matter how much of a challenge I have always finished. In High School I was involved with Skills-USA VICA where I was elected Idaho State Post-Secondary Parliamentarin.I traveled all over the U.S. to confrences where I learned leadership skills and what is meant to have a solid work ethic and take pride in your work. I am also a local MMA fighter with a modest 2-0 record so you can see I am disciplined and passionate individual who excels with a team or on my own. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A job where I feel my skills are being put to good use (like I said I love a good challenge).If I can make alot of money that would be sweet too. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I truely do enjoy building and thinking my through a project. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Paperwork Why I should work for you? I am a loyal emoloyee with a track record to prove it. As I said I am a young vibrant individual with alot of energy. I posses strong leadership characteristics but can set that aside if nessecary.
