What type of job are you looking for?

I have both Program (Afghanistan) and Country Management (Iraq) experience and am interested in finding similar employment in back in Iraq

US Citizen

English, native

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Baghdad, Iraq. I spent over three years in Iraq with the US Army and also functioned as a Country Manager for a small UK company in Iraq. I am extremely familiar with the country, the people, and the culture, and have rudimentary language skills. I believe in the mission in Iraq and want to continue supporting the growth and reconstruction of the country.

South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan

Afghanistan

What field do you currently work in?

Intelligence-advising/mentoring

What fields have you worked in before?

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a current TS/SCI clearance which I have maintained for over 19 years. I am a Registered Nurse with current state licensure

Competent, results driven, focused leader with superior problem solving and decision making skills, diverse analytical background, and the ability to learn complex concepts rapidly. Work extremely well under pressure.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel with 25 years of experience in the US Army with over 18 years of management and leadership experience. Served three tours in Iraq with the US Army and also have experience as a Country Manager in Iraq and Program Management-Support in Afghanistan.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider skills more valuable. Although formal education is extremely important, being able to apply that education effectively in a variety of situations and environments is what separates a good employee form an excellent employee. Translating education to a functional and pertinent skill set generally brings success.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working together, or on a team has many benefits. The old adage that two heads are better than one is an example of the benefits of working with others. Collaboration, cooperation, and socialization are all positive impacts of working in teams. Sharing responsibilities also keeps team members from getting "tired or burned out" as quickly or easily. Teams, in general, creat better products and solutions to complex problems.

Describe the benefits of working alone

In certain situations working individually allows for greater focus on a particular problem set. If seeking a solution to a very specific problem, particularly if the problem is something an individual is extremely familiar with or competent in, working alone can often result in an excellent solution in a shorter period of time.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst work experience is quite recent. The upper management (including the Country Manager) were duplicitous, manipulative, employed double standards in many situations, and openly exhibited favortism They were dishonest in personal and professional dealings and created continuously increasing stress levels throughout the program.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have learned that all personnel are human beings first and employees second. I have learned that there are always two sides to every story and that generally somewhere in the middle is the truth. As a manager, one must always look, listen, and learn before making big decisions. However, a manager must be confident and prepared to make a "70% solution" decision when required. Leadership is not a popularity contest.

What unique skills do you have?

Trained and have experience in many intelligence disciplines to include Imagery, Signals, All-Source, and Measurements and signatures intelligence. Work extremely well under pressure as a result of years as a trauma nurse. Technically oriented and learn complex concepts quickly. Excellent management and people skills. Outstanding decision-making and problem-solving skills. Operational adept. Extremely familiar with command and control systems and space assets.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

A senior management position dealing with intelligence, analysis, or technical capabilities that is challenging, fast paced, and highly mobile.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Constantly learning and being intellectually challenged. Coordinating several projects or capabilities simultaneously. Working with emerging technologies.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Administrative details.

How do you measure success?

There are several measures of success. For corporations, generally the bottom line is profit. For sections or teams, generally timely and accurate mission accomplishment spells success. This in turn feeds the bottom line; profit. Personal success is different for everyone. I view personal success as working hard, contributing to the greater good, going to work everyday and doing your absolute best. And at the end of the day being able to look at yourself in the mirror and know that you have done your best and always taken the "hard right".
