Looking for work in the Iraq area for the purpsoe of serving the underprivleged and to help in the rebuilding of a new democratic country. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None at the present moment. What field do you currently work in? Emergency and Trauma Nursing in a urban area of Detroit Michigan. What fields have you worked in before? Management, Construction, and currently Nursing. What qualifications do you hold? BSN from University of Detroit Mercy School of Nursing, BLS(Basic Life Saving for Healthcare Workers), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Saving), TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Class), ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Saving). Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider skills more valuable in this field due to the critical thinking that is involved when working on Patients; this quick thinking and making corrrect choices on the fly, can not be taught with just formal eduacation. Describe the benefits of working with others In Emergency medicaine, especially part of the Trauma Team; you put your trust in everyone working with you on patients. These people are there both to support and to check each other. Without these benefits of working with others there would be no "TEAM". Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone has just a few benefits, the ones that come to mind are: independence and autonomy. What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience was working as a manager of a moving company. This was due to the fact that this was a job that I really did not enjoy. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? the most inmportant lesson I have learned throughout my career was that many problems arise from stereotyping people, espically at my current place of employment that is so diverse in race, religion, nationality, and class. What unique skills do you have? As an Emergency Nurse/Trauma Nurse there are many unique skills that one acquires through the years of working. These include but are not limited to critical thinking, IV insertions, and intubations. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would consist of serving the underserved with opportunites to see the world. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspects of my field is the wide array of situations that one may see each and every day. Coming to work and not knowing what to expect, or what you may see, fuels my ambitions and inspirations to continue in this field. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The least interesting aspects of my field is the charting of care that you provide for a patient, this is an essential part of Nursing but in my opinion it is the least interesting. Name one strength and one weakness the you think people see in you? The one strength atht I think people would see in my is my deication to my work, no matter what type I am doing.
