EOD Jobs

What type of job are you looking for?

Deployed EOD.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English-very efficiently.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I wish to work in deployed locations (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc). As a retiring member of the US Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal program, I am experienced and comfortable operating in obstere environments.

What countries have you worked in?

I have experience working in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I currently have no active visa. But, I have valid passports and should be able to obtain visas.

What field do you currently work in?

I have 20+ years in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

What fields have you worked in before?

I have never worked extensively in the fields, but I have experience in Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) operations/transportation, tactical survival, and advanced small arms training.

What qualifications do you hold?

I hold expert small arms qualifications with the M-4 rifle and M-9 pistol. I am very familiar (accurate) with the M107 Barrett .50 caliber rifle and the M240 rifle, but I have never been required to qualify on either weapon system. I have MS certifications in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. I am unsure how much room is available here, but I can provide more info upon request.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider skills more valuable than formal education. I feel this because, traditionally, skills are gained more through "hands on" experiences and "real world" scenarios. Thus, the material is better comprehended and retained.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others allows tapping into the knowledge and experience of others. Thus, increasing the probability of success for the overall operation.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone allows for more flexibility and ocassionally allows for more expedient completion of tasks.

What was your worst working experience?

Encoutering a situation where I was expected to complete a task, but was not properly trained for the task. I succeeded, but it took a lot longer than it should to determine how to accomplish the task.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

The most important lesson I have learned throughout my career is to listen. Listening can help one gaining experience, provide insight to unspoken issues, or learn otherwise unknown details.

What unique skills do you have?

I have very good attention to detail, a vividly mechanical imagination, and I am good with MS Office.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Getting paid to respond to explosive emergencies and blow stuff up.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Everyday is different and the career is so flexible.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Cordons are dropped immediately after we declare the scene safe and teams must reconstitute equipment with personnel re-entering it and complicating matters.

How can potential employers contact you?

The easiest way to contact me is by email at kenneth.h@gimail.af.mil
