What was your worst working experience? Work has always been enjoyable to me. Every work has its challenges. And if there is one thing that gives me joy, it is nothing than tackling challenges. Every job challenge has the potential of offering a million solutions to production difficulties. At Boutiful Garden Ltd, Asaba; we tried farming maize in a very dry weather and soil. The crops failled even though i gave them every agronomical attention at my disposal. And i hate failure. It took me my private times working out reason(s) for the crop failure. And it occured to me that the problem was more of the soil, of which i knew very little about soil then. That motivated me to do a graduate degree study in soil science at one of the most reputable universities in area of soil science in Nigeria. Discussing the issue with my research project supervisor in school, we arrived at researching soil water and nutrients conservation in a Savannah type soil that is continuously cultivated. And that is what i have successfully rounded up, now writing the research report. Challenge betters one if properly handled. And there is always one job challenge or the other to better us. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? My career has made me know that on my job; the more problems i solved, the more studies and research i did, the more people i connect, the more thought and attention i give, the better person i become. Knowledge is power and expertise knowledge is life itself! What unique skills do you have? I have virtually all Agronomy skills but conveniently can do the following well: . Determination of soil aggregate stabilty. . Determination of N & P requirement of a soil. . I can determine which soil requires tillage, the amount of tillage required and which soil does not require tillage. . I can determine the biomass content of and effect on a soil. . I possess excellent sales and marketing skills. . I possess research and report writing skills. . I have good analytical techniques. . I am ICT complian: can effectively use power point, Excel, Epi-Info, ArtGIS, GPS wit Google Earth, SAS, SPSS, and Oracle Database 10g Administration 1. . Excellent landscaping skill. . Crop breeding skill. . Pest control skill. . Farm yard manure preparation skill. . Excellent communication skill. . Soil water conservation skills. . Soil nutrients conservation skills. . Skills for farming grains, tuber & root crops and flower plants. . Can teach, plan & develop training curricullum and materials. . Can collate, present, analyse, interprete and report statistical data, using various ICT packages. . Multi-tasking What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Having to work in a mechanised crop farm or a horticulture environment as a soil or crop scientist. I want to contribute my quota in facilitating affordable food supply, reducing global warming through tree planting and beautify the world with flowers. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Every area of my field is interesting but particularly i enjoy: . Sample collection and tesing. . Data analysis. . Crop breeding. . Chemical analysis. . Landscaping. . Plan and development of training materials. . Marketing What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Every area is highly interesting so long as it contributes to better agricultural production.
