Doreen Muthoni Mukira (41.220.224.142) -

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job in the field of Banking and Finance or Accounting. I am also interested in any volunteer job in working with the poor or orphaned children of Kenya.

What nationality are you?

Kenyan

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak both English and Swahili fluently.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in Kenya, Nairobi area because that is my home area. I believe that if I have to make a difference in the world, I should start at home.

What countries have you worked in?

I have previously worked in Kenya only.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Currently I have a Visa to work in Kenya only.

What field do you currently work in?

Currently, I am looking for a job, having recently completed an undergraduate degree program in Business Management (Banking and Finance option).

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked previously in the logistics and procurement field as a stores assistant; in the service industry (communications) as a customer care assistant; and as an untrained teacher in a local primary school.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a degree in Business Management, Banking and Finance option and a certificate in computer packages (MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS) among others. I am also currently pursuing a Certified Public Accountants (CPA) certificate offered by the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board of Kenya (KASNEB)

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Though skills are also important to have,I consider formal education more valuable than skills because it imparts a lot of knowledge and information on a person that no amount of skills can. Through formal education, one is able to go on a journey all over the world by simply learning what goes on and around the world and this is something that skills are not able to give a person.

Describe the benefits of working with others

It is important to work with others because one person alone cannot accomplish every task on their own. We need the contribution of other people in terms of ideas and information so that we can work more effectively. Besides, human beings are social beings and therefore we need to interact with our fellow human beings as our way of life. Also, working with others enables us to work faster.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone allows one to exhibit some degree of responsibility and to show a sense of direction in that you can achieve some goals on your own. It also shows dedication to ones work and love for one's work. Apart from that, it also shows that one is self reliant and independent.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was one time when most of my fellow workmates had been taken to a function that was held outside the organization to attend to customers' needs and I was among the very few left behind to serve the customers. I spent the whole day serving customers with no time to take a break and one customer abused me, despite the effort I was making to serve him. I ended up hating my job but the next day I loved it all over again when I saw how happy customers felt after I had assisted them.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have actually not embarked on my career but when I do, I hope to learn alot and to make a positive impact wherever I go and work.

What unique skills do you have?

I am very organized in whatever I do and I am very particular at small details of my work. I am also very aggressive at whatever I do and try hard to give my very best. Apart from that, I am a very social person that sometimes my friends and family wonder how I start a conversation with some people that they find inappropriate.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is to be the Chief Executive Officer of a very successful financial institution (preferably my own) and/or to be a Nobel Peace Prize recipient due to exemplary work in improving the lives of destitute children in my country as well as worldwide.

Please replace this with a question of your own

How can you help me achieve my dreams and goals in life?

How can potential employers contact you?

Potential employers can contact me through my e-mail address dmxsony@yahoo.com or through my mobile contact at 0720726050 or through my postal address at P.O BOX 30881 postal code 00100 Nairobi, Kenya. Thank you for this opportunity to go through this interview.
