NURSING OR COUNSELLING OR NURSE/CONSELLOR

What nationality are you?

KENYAN

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

ENGLISH, SWAHILI and my mother tongue KIKUYU.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Kenyan because beinga kenya i fell i need to give back to my people. The only way i can do this is by serving them.This i will contribute in the natio bulding.

What countries have you worked in?

ONLY KENYA

What field do you currently work in?

Nursing and counselling.

What fields have you worked in before?

Nursing.

What qualifications do you hold?

A certificate incomunity health nursing. Ahigher deploma in Counselling Psychology. A certificate in Family Planing. A cerifcate in management of Sexualy tansmited diseases. I am trained in home based care and management of people living with HIV/AIDS. Currently am undertaking a diploma in comunity health nursing,e-learning with armref visual school of nursing. Am due to finish in january 2010.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Both because, formal education gives me fist hand information of the proffession while skill gives me the competece neede in the proffession.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others helps one to learn from others. Helps in creating team work hence making work easier. Work can be done easily through delegation. Collabolaton with others will help organisations in achiving their goal and reduce the risk of duplication. Helps in consultation hence ensuring quality of service.

Describe the benefits of working alone

None.

What was your worst working experience?

Working alone in a marternity ward with mor than 8 mothers in labour.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Giving good service to others is very fulfilling.

What unique skills do you have?

Interpersonal relations and self stress management which enables me to help othe deal with their own stress.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Counselling people expecially women and helping them improve their health status througth being empowered.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Working with women and children.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Bedside nursing.
