Rose Maingi (196.201.211.162) -

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job as a Public relations person or in a corporate affairs office. This job includes media relations, corporate image and event management.

What nationality are you?

Kenyan

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak fluent English, Swahili and Kikuyu.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Kenya. This is my country of residence and have my roots based here. However, short term travel is manageable.

What countries have you worked in?

Kenya

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Kenya

What field do you currently work in?

Electronic Media.

What fields have you worked in before?

Electronic media both as a Camera person and Editor. This is a field in communication that enhances PR messages.

What qualifications do you hold?

BA in Communication, PR option. Minor in Marketing Diploma in Video Production

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Formal education gives one a guide into the skills needed. Without an education, it would be difficult to know how to resolve difficult and touchy issues. I think both are important, one being a prerequisite to the other.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Team work is very important in any job. No one person can complete a job on their own to the best of the client satisfaction. other peoples ideas enrich and give a broader perspective to a project. In the field of communication, team work is the key to a successful campaign.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone means working at a faster pace with little bureaucracy. this means decisions are made faster and implementation is prompt.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst work experience involved a presentation. WE were presenting the completed advert to the client and the DVD could not play. Unfortunately, in the rush to the clients premise, I had forgotten to preview the DVD before ejecting it. The result was very embarrassing. I learnt never to assume anything. Always counter check before leaving.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Team work builds better work relationships. Having a good relation with your work mates regardless of statue improves the work environment and therefore, the productivity.

What unique skills do you have?

I am a detailed planner and have a good memory for details forgotten. I keep a record of event on paper as a habit. I am able to work unsupervised for long periods and keep deadlines.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is one that engages my creativity and challenges my mind. A job that allows for personal and career growth on the same level.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

New clients bring in new challenges that require innovative solutions. Every client has a uniqueness that one has to explore and use to the clients advantage.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Predictability. This can happen if a company does not allow for radical ideas but insists on sticking to the norm.

Where do you see yourself in five-ten years?

I hope and believe that from my work ethics, relationships and style, I can make a good team leader and eventually, in ten years, the COO of a company.

How can potential employers contact you?
