Headed the Procurement, Export, Stores functional divisions consisting of 25 staff reporting to me and I report to the MD of the Company.

Responsibilities involved in locating and establishing sources for Raw materials, (raw silk, cocoons, silk woven fabrics, threads, art silk etc.) Capital items, (Power loom machines, Industrial giant washing machines, and machineries needed time to time by office automation etc. Components & consumables,(electronic spare parts for the imported machineries etc. Import of Buttons, labels, stickers, dyes, for use in the finished products to be exported and packaging materials for export of the finished goods as specified by the buyer.

Besides developing products and sources internationally, have achieved in streamlining the supply chain, cost reduction, inventory reduction, developing trading and involved in procuring machineries for the Companies expansion programme for existing and new products. The sourcing are done from US, Europe, China, Japan and Germany.

Exported large no. of consignments of Cotton Garments, Silk fabrics, silk sarees, hoisaries etc. Coordinated with Bank, Government Councils & Certification authorities & Customs authorities for import & export functions of the company following the quota systems

Earned good revenue to the company by way of duty drawback, Import duty concessions, etc.

SR. MANAGER – (LOCAL & OVERSEES) 1984 – 1987:

REED RELAYS & ELECTRONICS INDIA LIMITED, CHENNAI

The Company is an ISO 9000 & QS 9000 certified Co. manufacturing Electronic components and computers, viz., Reed Switches, Reed Relays, Keyboards, PCB。ヌs, Plastics moulded components to be used in the computers etc. and exporting to UK, USA, Germany. Headed the Purchase, Exports, Stores functions of head count 30 staff.

Imported, Reed Relays, Reed Switches, Gold Potassium Cyanide, Super enameled copper wire, Nickel wires, Copper wires, Gold plated relays machineries for production, different weighing machines, etc. Local purchase involved in sourcing the plastic moulded items for keyboards & computer components, stationery materials, machineries, furniture & fittings, modern office equipments etc.

Job involved managing the Materials functions of the company and reporting to the MD & Chairman. Earned revenue towards customs appeals and duty drawback for the company. Obtained Import & Export Licence for the company.

Responsibilities involved vendor development of local and foreign sources for regular supply of quality materials, continuous cost reduction through negotiations, value analysis, market price and quality evaluation, value engineering, Stores management, Production Forecast analysis for placing future orders, Establishing quality of incoming materials and maintaining ISO 9000 & QS 9000 standards of the Company.

Attending higher level policy & budget meetings, Co-ordinating with banks, customs clearing agents, Government authorities & Government certification departments & councils, Licensing authorities etc. Logistics involved studying of all India Market and Exports for establishing an effective system for the Company.
