I left my job on my own for family reasons. What fields have you worked in before? I worked as HR professional and also a small stint as free lance journalist for some house journals. PG Diploma in HRM - IGNOU - 2007 M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication - Calcutta University – 1997 B.Ed - Calcutta University - 1995 B.A. in English - Calcutta University - 1994 Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? On my view, education is the source of knowledge which helps us to become matured, polished, and adjustable to the different situation. Education increases the power of taking the right decision, judgement on right and wrong. On the other hand, skill is the spontaneous capacity which can be utilised appropriately with the help of formal education. Describe the benefits of working with others Working with others is great to be motivated. It creates an wonderful working atmosphere and transforms the work interesting. We get enriched with others experience, knowledge and information. It increases the speed of work, and get the work done on time. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone gives more autonomy and power to decide. It enables acting according to one's judgment without facing criticism. Even while working alone, expert’s advice and consultations with others can be fruitfully availed but the ultimate decision will be with one person. Working alone is best for those who want no interference with their style and working What was your worst working experience? Among the bad experiences, this can be considered as worst is ‘Not keeping back up of the important assignments or correspondences.’ Once whole of my presentation work got corrupted before an important delegation meeting with the client company and for that I have to spend nervous hours in regaining the same. Thanks to God that due to IT solutions I can retrieve the work without much worries and I was lucky. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I learned to adjust with the situation and people and act accordingly. What unique skills do you have? I am smart, hard working, dedicated to my work. I have excellent communication skill, with the quality of coping up with the worst situation and people.I can motivate other people, and can plan the line of work in accordance with the business strategy. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job is such which will give me comfortable healthy work culture, a respectable position, considerable salary, freedom of work, opportunity to grow up. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Successful recruitment methods include a thorough analysis of the job and the labor market conditions and interviews as well as psychometric tests to determine the potentialities of applicants. Small and medium sized enterprises also focus on interviews and assessment with emphasis on job analysis, emotional intelligence in new or inexperienced applicants and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Other techniques of selection that have been described include various types of interviews, in tray exercise, role play, group activity, etc. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? A termination is one of the least interesting aspects. It is almost as disturbing for the terminator as it is for the person about to become unemployed. What is the role of a HR officer as a trouble shooter? The Human Resources Officer fulfils a dual role. A professional dealing with HR policies, employment, disciplinary matters, and other HR issues. This role accounts for monitoring, coordinating, and facilitating role supporting decentralised HR management and providing key services for the smooth running of the HR department.
