This role involved excellent communication and social skills, as well as an ability to engage with individuals face-to-face in a convincing and considerate manner, whilst commanding a firm knowledge of relevant statistics. Volunteer teacher and mentor for ReachOut in 2009. This role was with a mentoring programme and after-school Homework Club in Manchester that deals with high school students that have behavioural problems and are falling behind in academia. My tasks involved one-to-one teaching and mentoring on all high-school subjects, as well as some sports coaching. Caseworker at the Offices of Greg Mulholland (UK Member of Parliament) during the summer of 2007. This role involved one-to-one deliberation and mediation with members of the constituency, identifying and listening to issues raised, and determining appropriate and case-specific solutions. I was also tasked with all constituency communications over email, telephone and letter, as well as maintaining accurate and ordered files and databases for all constituents. I was also part of the re-election team for Mr Mulholland’s successful campaign. Call centre operator at Nunwood Call Centre in the summer of 2007. I was awarded Top Salesperson for one of the two weeks that I worked here as a means of gaining income during the unpaid internship with Greg Mulholland. Volunteer for Signpost International during the summer of 2006.This involved working in the Philippines with such responsibilities as house building, jungle expeditions, minor surgery, public speaking and prison visitations. Sales/Managerial Assistant at The Wine Rack in Leeds during summer of 2006. This role involved stock auditing as well as the monitoring and overseeing of deliveries to the shop. I was also entrusted with basic bookkeeping and customer service, as well as the daily monitoring of the till float and shop administration. Sales Assistant at the Co-Operative Food Store in Leeds during summer of 2005. This involved till work and customer relations, as well as some stock auditing. Other Achievements and Attributes • Strong knowledge of French, intermediate knowledge of Spanish. • Founding and Chairing a University Society that dealt with male-specific health and welfare issues through fundraising and awareness campaigns. This involved much negotiation, organisation, and leadership skills. The Society (MENS Society – Masculinity Exploring Networking and Support Society) gained international press coverage as it was the first of its kind in the UK. • Appointed Chair of the Model United Nations Security Council at the UN University for Peace. • Organising a number of charitable music and trivia nights at the University for Peace, as well as European and Middle East Cultural Night. • Establishing a Singing Group, as well as a Thought and Discussion Group at the University for Peace. • Mentoring of two Danish Erasmus exchange students arriving in Manchester for the 2009-2010 academic year. • Volunteering on a number of occasions for the University of Manchester’s Student Action branch at their soup kitchen for the homeless initiative. • Served on the Society Committee for the Harmony Gospel Choir as Communications Officer. • Raising over £1000 in High School by organising a charity concert for the 2004 Tsunami victims, which my band and three other bands performed in. Interests and Hobbies • Martial Arts: Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. • Music: Singing male solos for a gospel choir, and playing guitar and keyboard. • Sports: Being involved in University halls of residence rugby team, as well as being on both the High School football team, a local football team, and the church football team that regularly played matches against young offenders institutes. I also played on the UPEACE football team, and enjoy chess. • Languages: Continuing to learn French, Spanish and Arabic.
