Afghanistan, Iraq What countries do you have a visa to work in? No visa's. What field do you currently work in? Heavy equipment inspections, load testing of cranes,and other related horizontal and vertical equipment. Also operation of same equipment. What fields have you worked in before? Mainly heavy equipment with some transportation background as well. What qualifications do you hold? Currently qualified to operate every piece of horizontal and vertical equipment in Afghanistan. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Skills. Books and manuals can only give a one dimensional perspective on the process of running heavy equipment. In real life there are many variables that are not covered or explained, and can only be overcome or learned by doing. Describe the benefits of working with others Always having more than one solution to a problem. Being able to learn from the experience of others. Describe the benefits of working alone Knowing that you are responsible for your decisions and learning to adjust and think on your feet because there is nobody there to hold your hand. What was your worst working experience? Working in Afghanistan with a company who did not place qualified and experienced people in there proper positions because of politics or relationships. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Keep an open mind and give people the benifit of the doubt, because the least likely person can be the most influential. What unique skills do you have? I guess it would be the ability to figure out how to operate heavy equipment with minimal or no training. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A job that puts me supervising all types of heavy equipment working with true professionals who take pride in a job well done. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The ability to take a machine and make it do what i want and look back with the knowledge that i have done something that few people have the skill to do. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Repitition and monotany. Why did you choose this profession? Because at an early age i found i had a natural abilty and fascination with large machines. I was brought up in a family that has worked heavy equipment and trucking for 3 generations and i guess it is just in the blood. How can potential employers contact you?
