The purpose of this communication is to register my interest to work with any humanitarian Organization in Liberia.

First of all permit me to introduce myself to you briefly. I am Nsubuga Rogers; a male Ugandan civilian civil servant aged 48 working in Uganda Prisons Service since 1996. Currently, I am at the Rank of Principal Welfare and Rehabilitation Officer. The entire job entails assisting inmates to regain their lost dignity from crime through counseling and guidance; making family contacts, prisoners’ education and social rehabilitation programs. These programs help inmates to make informed decisions in their lives. I also deal with policy related matters regarding Prisoners’ Social Rehabilitation, resettlement and Reintegration back into the community as law abiding citizens.

I am married and blessed with three children, one boy and two girls aged 9, 6, and 4 respectively.

I am a graduate of Social Sciences: Political Science and Sociology 1991-94, from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. The title of my MA (MPAM), Thesis was: The Experiences of the Disadvantaged in Uganda: A Case Study of the Physically Disabled Women in Kampala City, (1996 Makerere University, and Kampala, Uganda).

Meanwhile from October 2004 - Dec. 2006, I had an opportunity to observe and monitor humanitarian / human rights situation in Darfur Region, Sudan, as AMIS’ first Senior Humanitarian Affairs Officer in Darfur. While there I admired the work of IRC in Darfur.

I participated on the UN/AU assessment teams for a possible transfer of AU to UN in Darfur around mid 2006. I also used to visit IDPs camps, assessed and wrote humanitarian situation reports for the African Union. I formulated talking points for the AMIS Head of Mission and also briefed various dignitaries on fact finding missions in Darfur on the humanitarian/human rights situation.

Given my 17 year background in a Catholic Religious Order as a Brother, I feel that am destined to a vocation and a calling to serve those in desperate situations like Refugees, IDPs, Prisoners, PLVHA, women and children. I am more than ready and willing to relinquish my present engagement as a Principal Rehabilitation Officer to dedicate my life to a new assignment in Liberia which I envisage to be more fulfilling despite what this country has gone through.

I will be pleased if my application meets the attention of any International Organization or Government.
