Education

What type of job are you looking for?

Teaching - Education

What nationality are you?

British

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English - proficiently - 1st language French - poorly

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Maldives - I read an article in a banking magazine that said they were looking for English teachers to move there.

What countries have you worked in?

UK, USA, Turks & Caicos

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

UK, USA, Turks & Caicos

What field do you currently work in?

Finance + Education

What fields have you worked in before?

Education - teaching Finance - managing business operations. I have also also built homes as a part time business and have an understanding of construction management.

What qualifications do you hold?

B.Ed from Durham University- I have taught at high school and college level M.A - York University TEFL I have also taught remedial education I can read basic construction plans.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Both are essential. Teachers with formal training are needed to educate. Skilled workers are necessary for the economic expansion and growth of a nation. The two groups are essential for harmonious growth. While educators pass on the basic skills to understand concepts, skilled labour is essential for productive growth in GNP, as well as personal success.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others leads to a cross cultural exchange of ideas. Sharing information, goals, ideals and objectives tends to make growth and accomplishments more meaningful and useful both individually and culturally.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone may lead to personal self satisfaction but is less stimulating overall than working with others. Obviously small, short term, specific goals can be easy and quick to achieve.

What was your worst working experience?

All of my working experiences have been valuable. All experience is useful even if it tells us we do not like something. I have never had an experience in working that I hated although summer jobs while at University could be a little boring - for example working alone in an office.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

You can achieve more as part of a team. Goals can be achieved more quickly and at a higher level when a group attempts a goal rather than an individual. Much like playing soccer.Patience and perseverence is helpful in this regard also.

What unique skills do you have?

Teaching Experience at school and college level. I have attended 3 Universities and have advanced graduate degrees. I am a certified Scuba Instructor and enjoy cricket and soccer. I am comfortable teaching any age group. I can teach history, economics/finance, geography or social studies/humanities, + art, as well as coach sports.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Teaching in the Maldives.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Seeing others learn through their efforts and your help as a teacher, mentor, and guide. Every child/individual has a unique perspective and creating approaches to help them succeed is rewarding. I enjoy research in to subjects I have not previously explored. Seeing the expression on peoples faces when they solve a problem or understand a new concept is both rewarding and satisfying.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I prefer some contact with students rather than just an office job in an educational setting.Paerwork in an office setting is therefore not appealing by itself.

Please replace this with a question of your own

I would be available to interview at any time. How and where would this take place? What openings are available, under what conditions of employment and how soon would I be required to begin? I assume bringing my wife who can also teach would not be a problem?

How can potential employers contact you?

The best way is by email - twinds@comcast.net I am in the USA at the moment - phone 717-572-6218 Mailing address - 601 Royal View Dr, Lancaster PA17601. USA or Little Orchard, River Lane, Fetcham, Surrey KT22 9RJ, England.
