Welding and fabrication previously. What qualifications do you hold? 11 GCSEs grade A-C. City and Guilds welding qualifications. Full Uk driving license. A whole host of rigging related qualifications. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I would say that you need a mixture of both. A formal education provides a good basis to learn in the future. The skills that you learn whilst on the job are ultimately what make you good at your job but I don't think these skills would be so easily gained with out a good formal education. Describe the benefits of working with others Different people know how to do different things. It is always possible to learn how to do something new from someone new and this is important. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone the pressure is on yourself and yourself only to get a job complete. It rests on your shoulders and this can get the best out of people. What was your worst working experience? Having to rescue a team member from the structure. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Listen to everyone and always take other peoples view on board. You are not always right and your way is not always the best. What unique skills do you have? The ability to talk to a team and take every ones point of view on board. Using every ones ideas to get the job complete in the fastest and safest way. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Telecomms rigger in the Maldives. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Travel, meeting new people as well as the working at height. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The weather can sometimes put a stop to working. What rigging experience do you have? I have massive experience in Cellular Telecomms.
