What type of job are you looking for?
I`m looking for a job with books, and lots of them. I`m a passionate reader and collector, especially histotical books. And I love to be around them!
What nationality are you?
Maltese.
What languages do you speak (and at what level)?
Maltese, English and German. O`level, because I left Malta when I was very young, so could not continue higher level of examinations.
What country or area are you looking to work in and why?
IN one of the big towns in Malta, or of course, the capital city, Valletta!The reason is, that apart from the fact the the bookshop would be a larger branch, so there for, there will be a lot more going on, and a larger and more varied amount of books!
What countries have you worked in?
I`ve worked in England and Germany.
What countries do you have a visa to work in?
I don`t need a visa , as I`m a member of the E.U. And as I would love to work in Malta, the need of a visa is obsulete!
What field do you currently work in?
I am not working anymore. Will be settling in Malta, in a month`s time, as I`ve reached a watershed in my private life, and I`d like to take care of myself, surrounded by objects that I love and respect.
What fields have you worked in before?
Helped out in a bookshop, many years ago. No obvious , scholarly qualifications, except O´level standards acquired at St Dorothy`s convent, Mdina, after 12 years attendance. Then went of and got married and that was the end of THAT story!
What qualifications do you hold?
AS ABOVE!
Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
Both actually! If one has both, you start at the pole position. But if one ònly`has skills, I think , one should be given a chance, to prove, that natural skills are gold worth.
Describe the benefits of working with others
It`s human. No man is an island. And it`s great to bounce off experiences and ideas, of one another. And one finds out when working with others, where one can improve one`s own skills or others from you.
Describe the benefits of working alone
When one has the confidence in one`s own skills, then it`s a satisfying feeling to know that one can do the job.And you have a feeling of responsibility, which is uniquely gratifying!
What was your worst working experience?
When I ordered the wrong bookjs for a long , standing client! It was in England, and I was helping out as extra Christmas help for the holiday season. The gentleman had a good load of Christmas spirit, so he forgave me!
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
Enjoy what you are doing. Thjere is nothing worse than hating each day , one goes to work. The money one ears is well and good, but it`s a great feeling to walk in one`s place of work, and feel that one belongs there!
What unique skills do you have?
Communication. Love to talk about anything! And I have a nice smile!
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
Anything to do with books really.
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
When a whole load od new books are published, especially historical, and about the `Tudor`or English history, that I can afterwards, discuss, critisize or recommend,and then hopefully , sell!
Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?
Reading books that send me to sleep!Or reading a book on a subject, that I just can`t get into!
Why would you consider yourself suitable for this particular job?I think I`m suitable because
I think I`m suitable because above all, I`m willing to learn. I`m at an age where usually one`s life, after 30 years of bringing up a family, were one can lie back on their laurels. My destiny dictated something else for me, so I think I could be an asset and also doing a job that would give me pleasure!
