In search of summer job - 2009 What type of job are you looking for? I am looking for a job that could help me learn new skills and improve my overall experience. What nationality are you? Maltese. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English (very well) Maltese (very well) French (fluently) All at O level standard and currently studying English and Maltese at A level standard. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Preferably in the south or the central part of Malta. What are you studying at the moment? Currently at St. Aloysius Sixth Form studying Philosophy and English at A LEVEL and Maltese, Sociology, Biology and Systems of Knowledge at Intermediate Level. What fields have you worked in before? I have worked as a waiter for six months with Rizzu Bar and Restaurant, Marsaxlokk. What qualifications do you hold? I have O levels in the following subjects : English, Maltese, Mathematics, Religion, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Environmental Studies, English Literature. London EDEXCEL Examinations: English, Biology European Computer Driving License and European Computer Driving License at Advanced Level Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I think they are both important. Skills are important to be able to interact and function comfortably and professionally in a working environment, while education is important to widen your horizons and gives enough background knowledge and information to facilitate the tasks one is set out to do. A person with education is more reliable and well informed. Describe the benefits of working with others . It broadens your horizons and improves one's teamwork and socialization skills which are important in ever day life and in almost every working sector. There is an old African saying which says that "If you want to walk fast walk alone, but if you want to walk far walk with others". One can do and gain much more by working with others. Describe the benefits of working alone. One can get many things done faster and more efficiently. Also there are no distractions. What was your worst working experience? Working as a waiter and being paid very little for the amount of work I did and feeling that I was gaining nothing from that job. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? One must give all he has and all he can do at work. This improves certain aspects of one's life that cannot be affected by anything other than working with others. What unique skills do you have? I am very creative and original. I handle stress and fast paced situations very well. What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
