English as a Second LanguageWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for an English (ESL)teaching position at both primary and high school level. What nationality are you? I am a Namibain citizen and would like to immigrate to Manitoba,Canada once I get a job there. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English (Excellent command of English) and Oshiwambo (Mother tongue) What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I would like to work in Canada simply because I would love to see the other side of the world and live there. Another reason is that family friends are living there and would like to unite with them once again. Canada seems to be a great country to live in, its lowest unemployment rate and peace have attracted me. What countries have you worked in? I have only worked in Namibia, that's at the northern part of the country and currently in the capital city (Windhoek). What countries do you have a visa to work in? Unfortunately I haven't got a visa yet but recently obtained a teacher certification to teach in Manitoba province. What field do you currently work in? Education, currently employed by the Ministry of Education. What fields have you worked in before? Just Education. What qualifications do you hold? Bachelor of Education in Economics and English. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Personally,I consider education and skills to be more valuable because one cannot successfully transfer skills to another person if they haven't received education in which they learn about ways of transfering those skills. Describe the benefits of working with others By working with others, one would learn more and accomplish the goals faster than when working alone. As the saying goes ' many hands make light work, work shared become easier to complete and in process a lot of skills are shared.This also enhance or strengthen working relationship with colleagues. Describe the benefits of working alone You will become more independent, the probability of disagreement is reduced and you will be able to give it 100%. What was your worst working experience? I can't think of any. I enjoy every moment of teaching and I find it to be a fascinating experience. I t is very fulfilling to learn that at the end of the day you have transfered knowledge to a younger person and that can be quite rewarding. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important lesson was that respect is earned and not demanded. What unique skills do you have? Skills include transfering knowledge, coaching learners in Debating or Business orator's among other things. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Teaching English in Canada- doesn't matter what level it is. That is my dream! What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Classroom environment- it is such an amazing thing to interact with children and see their smiling faces when they have succeeded in a task. How can teaching a language to non -native speakers be improved? By ensuring that it is not restricted to the classroom only but be used everywhere with emphasis be placed on grammar, pronounciation and intonation. How can potential employers contact you?
