Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am applying for the post of statistical officer/junior consultant/Market researcher/Analyst in your prestigious company; I do feel that statistics and management combined together can be the perfect tool to ensure consistent progress.

What do I possess that could be both helpful and interesting to your company? Doing in my degree in BSC (Hons) Statistics with Computer science at the University of Mauritius, , I have develop my analytical skill and I can bring along all the statistical techniques that can be useful in making your company more manageable.

Statisticians do present facts; facts of how things were, are and might be in future. Based on those facts precise strategies can be set up by the management. To give you a clear idea, these are various tasks that I can undertake and which will also be of paramount importance to your management:

1) Analysis of the performance of each dept/unit/branch based on figures like profits, sales, etc. The statistical techniques that would be used here are Trend analysis, cross tabulations and simple basic statistics like percentages.

2) Help the management in analyzing both current and final financial statement. Here techniques like percentages, cross analysis and trend analysis would be used. If you use trend analysis, you can see how the figures behave over time. By doing so, you could identify patterns and see more clearly whether substantial progress has been made over time or not.

3) Analysis of attendance rate to identify discrepancies within a particular department.

4) Help the management in compiling and analyzing large databases for e.g. large records.

5) Help to conduct market research like market segmentation studies, surveys, opinion polls and others in a statistical manner to achieve better precision. These are what I can do

Sample design->calculation of the sample size to achieve a certain level of precision using the software STATS V1.1.

Questionnaire design and pilot survey,

Analysis (Using advanced and popular statistical techniques like multivariate analysis, basic statistics, charts and cross analysis(two way table and N-way tables),

Reporting.
