Hospitality (Cape Town, South Africa) Reception and Call centre (London) Yachting-stewardess (America and Europe) What qualifications do you hold? 1 year Hotel Management Diploma (City and Guilds) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? They are equally important and go hand in hand with each other. I am a huge believer in formal education, however, having said that, I did things the other way around. I studied a one year hotel diploma after I left school and was eager to enter the world and gain hands on experience and skills. Describe the benefits of working with others You gain more insight and learn more through others. The best leaders know when and how to be part of a team and to utilize the strengths of their team mates. Describe the benefits of working alone You get to focus on the task at hand without extra team dynamics to worry about. There are pro's and cons when working individually or as part of a team. What was your worst working experience? I have been lucky in life. Don't have one, honestly. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To love what you do, embrace any task, problem solving or challenge and to do all that you do with pride. To respect co-workers. To listen. One of my favourite qoutes: People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care (especially in hospitality-this is very true). What unique skills do you have? I really understand what people need, how they think and what they require. This is very valuable when dealing with all sorts of personalities and wants and needs from your guests. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A job that allows me to impact people (big or small) in positive ways. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? problem solving, pleasing people What are you hobbies I have padi open water and like to dive. I enjoy hiking and being in nature.
