| Video: Court to Court (October 2005) Federal Judicial Center Court to Court (October 2005) 4843-V/05, AVA21535VNB1, October 6, 2005 The standard approach to recognizing the contributions of retiring staff members is to host a retirement party, but one Clerks office wanted to provide its retired employees with a more permanent tribute. We examine the nature of that tribute as we visit the Bankruptcy Court (ED Mo.) for the dedication of its Wall of Honor. A Moment In Court History recounts the integration of the University of Mississippi in 1962 by James Meredith, accompanied by federal marshals and US troops who were carrying out the orders of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the US Supreme Court to end racial discrimination in university admissions. Employment is a crucial factor in long-term success for offenders. The Probation Office (ED Mo.) has developed an award-winning program, designed to improve employment rates among offenders. In this segment, officers who developed the program explain why offenders need more than just any job to successfully maintain employment, and former offenders credit the program with helping them find jobs that made a difference in their lives. |
