Thank author of this post/commentI have been working full time in the state of Missouri since I was 18. I am now 32 years old. I have never been without a job. I even had 2 jobs at some points. I have never been fired before. I have been laid off once due to the recession. I was on that job for 2.5 years. Then I was employed by a very big bank. I have had no issues on the job in the 7 years that I was there. I never got into it with anyone. I was averaging 118% with no errors for this year. I was fired in July the week after I took my vacation. The reason told to me was tardies which falls under attendance. I was 12 minutes late the day before I was fired. But If that was the real reason then over 1/2 of the department should have been fired with me in that same day because it was people with greater tardies then I had and over their sick days. I was told my manager "the policy states that I can terminate your employment if you are over 6 tardies or 6 sick days". these were her exact words. But as I said before over half the department was greater then that. It was people there with 9 sick day call offs and they are still there. also this big bank that I worked for had major lay-offs and fired a lot of people. but this bank was not in the news like bank of america and citibank. but this bank was just a big and received bail out funds also. I had to write a letter to the unemployment stating what happened. i explained what happened just as i stated above the real reason i was "fired" was because of company downsizing. It was another person fired the same day I was for the same thing. this person had took a full week vacation the week before just as I did. I stated that the manager of the dept downsized her dept and will try to use "misconduct" as a reason so we wont get our benefits. the other person had been there for about 8 years. employers are trying anything so they wont have to pay benefits. firing people for tardy after 7 years of service during a time of recession sounds like downsizing to me. i cant thing of any other reason of why i wa
