| la mamouniaMy message is about the re- opening of La mamounia hotel in Marrakech on September 29th, 2009. This fabulous hotel was closed for renovation for three years. But what I do not understand is, why they ( do not know who owns it. Probably ONA) hired just French people for top management to run. AS if there are no competent Moroccan for that position. I mean all top position are occupied by French citizens. From general manager to the executive chef. Why is the Moroccan authorities are always willing and ready to kiss up for any foreigners? I believe this is the legacy of colonialism. we never each other opportunities. I have been living in USA for a long time, and I know a lot of outstanding Moroccan hotel managers and chefs, who are just as good as the French. Finally I wonder if La mamounia new management team will bring them their own cleaning team, and I really hope no decent Moroccan will apply for that position. |

Dear Mr. ELIDRISSI, I agree with you 100%. I have been working in several branded hotels here in UAE for more than 7 years and every time i were submitting my resume to any of the new opening hotels within the UAE territory got considered and asked to meet the top managements for a personal interview. However, I have been submitting my resume copy for the past 2 years in all what they claim to be the outstanding hotels in Morocco, but the surprising thing is one of the them did bothered to reply back regretting or confirming… I lost hope in going back home professionally. They simply happy with what I am calling it cancer of managements positions in all Morocco (FRENCH) they are everywhere and well based and established.Unbelievable Anyways, thank god that we have got something in hands; as I don’t want to think how do most of Moroccan hoteliers been treated in Morocco itself.
