Summer Job 2009

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job in the time from June 2009 till August 2009. I would like to find a nice summer job where I might be able to apply my language skills. Therefore, I am looking for jobs in hotels or summer schools.

What nationality are you?

I am German.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

My mothertongues are German and Polish. Further I speak English and Italian fluently. Moreover I have good knowledge of French and some basic knowledge of Dutch.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking for a job in Rabat since I have my fiancé there who is currently working in Rabat.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked so far in Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

At the moment I do not have a working Visa for Morocco, but I would apply for one as soon as I have found a job. Since I am a citizen of the European Union I did not need any visa for my jobs so far which I were doing in Europe.

What field do you currently work in?

I am currently a student of European Studies at the University of Maastricht in the Netehrlands.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked so far as a translator, waitress and baby-sitter.

What qualifications do you hold?

First of all I speak six languages which is one of my greatest attributes. Further, I have a good high school degree and I will have finished my Bachelor in 2010 with which I will have obtained the degree of a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences. Further I am a very open minded person since I have lived in different countries and I am ver motivated when I engage in doing a task.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

In my opinion personal skills are the basis of every form of education (not only speaking of academic education). hence, if a person does not have personal attributes, such as open mindedness, kindness and motivation he or she cannot outweigh it with academic education. However, I have to admit that in our world today academic education is very valuable attribute and the good basis for a career. In conclusion, I would say that both are very valuable, nevertheless I find personal skills as indispensable.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working in a team has many benefits. If the workload is well divided, the task can be finished much faster. Further, in a group people have different talents and different skills, thus, a work conducted by a group will be more precious in terms of quality. Moreover, if the team spirit is good, people like to go to work more and therefore the end result is overall better. However, working in a team needs to be well organized in order to successful.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone allows a person to be more flexible and responsible. Which means that when one is working alone, one does not have to take the actions of the others into account. The personal timetable is more flexible in terms of time division and changes. Furthermore, one has more responsibility for a given task since there are no other people involved in the project. Thus, working alone implies a greater responsibility and a more flexibill attitude.

What was your worst working experience?

The worst working experience was in a place where the atmosphere at the working place was not positive. It was a place where nobody liked to work but had to and which therefore created an uneasy atmosphere where people were not nice for each other.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Be open for everything and try to gain as much as you can from every new task you get assigned.

What unique skills do you have?

I would say that my unique skills are to integrate myself well in any new situation and to be open for new and unknown tasks. Further I would count my language skills to one of my unique skills.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job would be to be surrounded by nice people in a nice working place and to enjoy my assigned tasks.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

My field is very interesting in terms of multiculturalism. Hence I love to work with different people from different backgrounds. It makes the daily life more interesting and one learns a lot from other cultures.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

There are no negative aspects about my field. The only thing is, that one will probably never stay for very long in one place and in teh end one has to leave new friends behind.
