Lodge/Resort Mangement coupleWhat type of job are you looking for? We are interested in obtaining a management position at a lodge or resort in Mozambique. (Couples position) What nationality are you? South African What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English and afrikaans first language. (Little bit of portugues in the process of learning) What country or area are you looking to work in and why? On the coast of mozambique, because Mike has been working in the south of mozambique for the last 3 years building a beach resort. Anneke has joined Mike for the last 8 months. And we love the country and the coast!! What countries have you worked in? Mike: South Africa, England and Mozambique. Anneke: South Africa, England, Italy and Mozambique. What countries do you have a visa to work in? South Africa. We're in process of applying for our Mozambican work permits. What field do you currently work in? Mike: Project management. Anneke: Admin, landscaping and training of cleaning staff. What fields have you worked in before? Mike: Project management, security and professional rugby player. Anneke: Restaurant management, Events co-ordinator, marketing and winemaking. What qualifications do you hold? Mike: Diploma in Project management(academy of york SA) Anneke: Diploma in Herbal medicine (institute of phytotherapy UK) : Short course in marketing (alcon laboratories SA) : Degree in winemaking (plumton college UK/EIT Hawkes bay NZ) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both is very important. Formal education give you the background and confidence to better your skills. Having skills is very important to cover all aspects of life a-z. Describe the benefits of working with others Team work is what makes everything tick. Teaches one something new everyday. Describe the benefits of working alone Makes time management and planning easier and one might be more productive, depending on the job at hand. What was your worst working experience? Mike: One of my workers was seriously injured when a 9m pole fell off a truck and hit him in the face, hospitalized him for 3 months. Quick reactions saved his life. Anneke: While studying in the UK I had a caring job looking after the sick elderly. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Mike: Honesty and time management. Anneke: Patience and people skills. What unique skills do you have? Mike: Building and maintenance, upkeep of vechicles, generators, waterpumps. Angling, spearfishing and 16 tonne drivers license. Anneke: Cooking, gardening(vegatables and herbs). Extensive knowledge of wines and hosting big events. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working together as a couple with people in a beautiful location. Meeting new people is a passion of ours and having nature surround us is a dream!!! What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Mike: The management of time, finances and workforce in constructing a lodge. Anneke: Daily management of staff and working in nature. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Mike: Logistics. Anneke: Staff absenties. What is your life goals?
