Occupational TherapistWhat type of job are you looking for? Occupational Therapist. My area of expertise are Paediatrics - physical disabilities, SI, developmental delays and learning disabilities. I've got experience in rehab in hospitals/step down clinics - burns, CVA's and spinal lesions. What nationality are you? South-African What languages do you speak (and at what level)? Occupational therapy - paediatrics and rehabilitation What qualifications do you hold? B.Arb - Universaty of Pretoria, I also attended courses: Play therapy, Autism, Importance of Neurodevelopment for school readiness and Seating. Planning to do Sensory Integration in 2012 Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both are needed. Without formal education you will have limited skills. But if you only have book knowledge, you will not be a good therapist. A good occupational therapist must be able to think on her feet and be able to use various skills, learned and commen sense, during therapy. Describe the benefits of working with others working with others has the benefits to share knowledge and learn from each others experiences. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? There is more ways than one to skin a cat What unique skills do you have? I'm very good with children, especially pre-schoolers. I have a great deal of patience and provide a secure environment for children to explore and learn in. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I'm doing my dream job - Occupational Therapy. I would like to do it in Namibia What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I like working with ADHD and Sensory Integration - hands on practical sessions What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I'm not to keen on psychiatrics and paper work.
