Secretarial Post Wanted

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a Secretarial/Receptionist/Dictaphone Typist/Medical Secretary post.

What nationality are you?

South African

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Fluent in English Language Cambridge 'O' Level Certificate B+ English AEB (America) 'O' Level Certificate B+ English

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Namibia I am a divorced lady raising a 13 year old daughter with a reading disability. I reside in Musina and there are no facilities to cater for her need. Moving to a larger city in South Africa, to me, is dangerous due to the crime rate. Namibia is a friedly, spacious, non racial country and the crime rate is not as high. I want my daughter to be raised with the minimum amount of fear and reservation in her environment. I believe, too, that there are facilities that can assist my daughter and the excellent reputation of the schools in Namibia precede them.

What countries have you worked in?

Zimbabwe South Africa

What field do you currently work in?

Medical Secretary/Receptionist

What fields have you worked in before?

Clerk/Typist - National Railways of Zimbabwe Branch Manager's Secretary - United Touring Company Zimbabwe Dictaphone Typist/Medical Secretary - Dr Eric Cohen, Specialist Physician Zimbabwe Directors' Secretary - Electroreps Zimbabwe Station Manager's Secretary - Kariba Power Station Zimbabwe Floor Manageress - OBC Supermarket, Musina, SOuth Africa

What qualifications do you hold?

English 'O' Level Certificates B+ - Cambridge and AEB (America) Certificates

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Skills - You may not have the academic qualifications for certain jobs but physically you are more than capable of doing it. Some people are more practical and can solve problems and get the job done physically and not by their academic knowledge. I believe that if one is more practical than academic, one tends to work harder and maintain his loyalty due to the fact that most companies, if not all, always request qualifications, certificates etc when quite frankly in life, it is not what is on paper that one experiences through the years, but the mere practical side of living one day at a time and each day brings with it a different challenge and by experiencing these challenges and overcoming them, one becomes more qualified, purely my point of view though.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Team work is essential in order to have a company run efficiently. All members work together and lessen the load. Once a rountine is formed with the team members, one cannot go wrong as you work hand in hand (where necessary a member will double up for the other member should the need arise), even though each team member performs different duties, resulting in an efficient and successful company.

Describe the benefits of working alone

You will know without a doubt that the work is done because you have to deal with it alone and at the end of the day, you take the responsibility of acknowledging that you have failed to meet the requirements that were needed or the acclamation that you did a good job. Working alone is good too, because you work at a pace and routine you are comfortable with and you can prove your efficiency and take responsiblity for your area of work.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Loyalty. As time goes by at your work place you develop a passion for the work you do and the company as a whole and therefore you become loyal to your company. Presentation in dress and ettiquete is also very important in your career, dealing with individuals, whether it be work colleagues or clients, is important in te knowledge that all are individuals.

What unique skills do you have?

I have a passion with working with the public. I also work well with people of all levels and walks of life. I have loads of patients with dealing with the elderly.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My passion is to assist people in whatever way I can and make their burden a little lighter. Dealing with the public, be it in a doctors practice, hotel reception etc.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Gaining knowledge through the company by way of dealing with day to day problems and overcoming them or through the public with their varies problems and assisting them. (At the moment in the medical aspect, gaining knowledge of the medication and its effects as well as the various illnesses and what medication can do combined with the will of the patient)

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Filing.

Please replace this with a question of your own

What are my chances of finding employment in Namibia if I am a South African citizen who is willing to relocate?

How can potential employers contact you?

Through my email address
