I am a Lecturer in Environmental Health @ Bulawayo Polytechnic Zimbabwe What fields have you worked in before? Environmental Health officer, Waste Managemement Officer What qualifications do you hold? Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Environmental Science and Health. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider skills more valuable because it is easier to formally educate a skilled somebody than for a formally educated somebody to adopt required skills. Skills also involves creativity unlike formal education. Describe the benefits of working with others It help others understand your objectives and the action required to achieve them. Working with others helps one to identify and harness other people strengths. Describe the benefits of working alone Quick decisions can be made.Easy self monitoring and evalution.It promotes one to be responsible and take up the initiative and boost self esteem. What was your worst working experience? In year 2008 the economy of Zimbabwe was so bad such that my workmates quitted their jobs and i was forced to work underpressure and get no remuneration in the end. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Do the best you can to perform your duty and in the end you are a freeman at home and at work. What unique skills do you have? Creative. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Officer What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Coming up with Environmental Management Systems,Environmental Impact Assessments,Safety inspection of workplaces and designing Emergency Preparedness and Response programmes. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Responding to non compliance isssues and maximum presence at the plant. Who do you prefer?a less experienced but eager to learn or an experienced one and not eager to learn and is always changing jobs?
