Lodges, Game Farms, WindhoekWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for a summer job in a Lodge, game farm or in a Bed and Breakfast. What nationality are you? I am Austrian. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak German as my mothertongue. English and Italian fluently and I am studying Afrikaans (which I would hope to improve in Namibia) What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I would love to work in Namibia for up to 3 months. For years now I have spent all of my holidays in Southern Africa, this time I would like to stay a little longer. What countries have you worked in? I have worked in Austria, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland. What countries do you have a visa to work in? All EU countries. What field do you currently work in? I have been a flight attendant for 13 years. What fields have you worked in before? Hospitality, in many different fields. What qualifications do you hold? High school education with emphasies on hotel and gastronomie. University Interpreting and Translating. Many different work related courses like team leading, sales customer relations etc. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? A good mixture would be best. But I think at the end of the day, in hospitality, I would value skills more simply because you need both feet firmly on the ground, flexibility and the willingness to do all jobs necessary. In my job I have seen that education seems to stand in the way very often. Describe the benefits of working with others Cameradery and that work is easier in a team. More hands can do more more easily. Describe the benefits of working alone You can do as you like without having to consider the wishes or ideas of your colleagues. Sometimes easier than in a group. What was your worst working experience? Waitressing,16 hour shifts, 7 days for 3 months with very little pay. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? You canīt do it all alone, good teamwork and being friens with colleagues essential. What unique skills do you have? I am very good at making peple feel welcome as if they were guests in my living room, I can serve without "serving" and I naturally form groups What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working in a lodge in the bush, guests from all over the world, animals and nature. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Responsibility, no 2 days the same, meeting lots of interesting people, travelling. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Life without routine and stability.
