Looking For a Job in Tourism Industry What type of job are you looking for? All kinds of entry level Travel & Tourism related Jobs. Ranging from Working in Hotels, Lodges, Restaurants, Guest Houses, etc. What nationality are you? Namibian What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English (excellent - both written and spoken) Oshiwambo (Mother tongue) What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Mostly in Namibia, in all regions. Wherever there is an opportunity. What countries have you worked in? None. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None. But I can apply for one as soon as there is an opportunity. What field do you currently work in? I am currently without work. Just looking for a Job. What fields have you worked in before? None. I just recently finished studying for a tourism related qualification. I now what to put my knowledge to use. What qualifications do you hold? I hold a Diploma in Tourism & Business Studies. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider both to be important, but their level of importance varies with industries. In the tourism industry, skills are definately much valuable, but formal education is the foundation, upon which skills depend. Describe the benefits of working with others - You learn team work. - You learn to communicate well with people. - You develop strong people-skills and even leadership skills. - You learn how to deal with conflicts among team members. Describe the benefits of working alone - Less stress from un-productive and non-cooperative team members. - You work at your own pace without the pressure of team members. - You enjoy the reward alone. - You have a chance to be creative and do your own thing that you really want. - you can focus on one task intensively without disruption. - you get a chance to think quitely on your own. What was your worst working experience? None. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Never make a promise you can't keep. What unique skills do you have? - Very good at braiding hair. - Good listner - Good at Cooking (and can still improve at with more intesive training) What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working as a travel agent. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? - Meeting new people from different places of the world. - Guiding tourists and explaining the beauty of our country to them. - Making someone feel at home while they are in Namibia. - Having a chance to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? - Working far from home. What motivates you in Life? Because I am a versatile and very dynamic person, I am motivated by a mixture of elements that contributes to my growth in my life, professionally, and things that will help me to climb the corporate ladder in my carreer. But fundamentally, I am motivated by recognition and achievement. I want to be recognized for my efforts in life and I have dreams that I want to achieve in life.
