Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
Both are necessary. Education provides you with the means to analyse, learn, produce and formulate ideas and incorporate values into your psyche that will allow you to work in the chosen field. When you work on the job, you acquire skills that will support and provide you with the mean to utilize theory with practice and for you to develop a system that works and that incorporate both medium.
Describe the benefits of working with others
In the field that I have worked in, the ability to work with others is important as it allows for a team mentality to develop and it provides support, contact, exchange of ideas.
Describe the benefits of working alone
Paper work and assessments are done in a timely manner. You have to be able to manage your working time and complete the work and appointments with clients in due course. You have to rely on your skills and be able to see what will benefit you and clients. You are also focus as you are working on your own.
What was your worst working experience?
Working with management that did not support staff, therefore the impact was detrimental to clients and staff
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
To work with clients at their own pace and with them. They know best what their difficulties are and to respect their process and offer them with alternatives but empower them in the process is a must.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
4 days work in a field that combines research and travel.
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
It has allowed me to work in diverse environments and with a multiplicity of issues and to learn from others be they clients or co workers.
Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?
The paperwork can take too much of the time that would need to be spent with clients. Politics at work can also act as a deterent for making work less interesting.
