Administrative Assistant

What type of job are you looking for?

The job that I am looking for would be an Administrative Assistant. Over the following eight months I have worked full time as an Administrative Assistant for a Mining Company in Canada, as well as part time with Sears Canada.

What nationality are you?

I am Canadian/Netherlands. ( I have dual citizinship)

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

My native language is English, which would be fluent. I can also read and understand Dutch, but still have difficulty writing it and speaking it.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in the Netherlands, because I am moving there as of June 15th, 2010. Den Bosch or Tilburg would be the two most wanted areas i would like to work in, but I am oke with movement.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in Canada, and also in the Netherlands.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Canada and the Netherlands.

What field do you currently work in?

As of this moment I am working as an Administrative Assistant for two companys.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked as;

- Sales Clerk - Administrative Assistant - Mail Sorter at TNT post - Cashier - Desk Clerk - Waitress - Bar tender

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I would have to say both are very valuable when you are hired on at a company, but seeings as i have to choose which one is more valuable then the other, I would go with Skills. Skills are more valuable, because you must have them in order to do the job that is aquired of you properly. You need to be skillful in the areas of you job in order to succeed to your fullest.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Gaining a wide range of knowledge, I believe that everyone can teach you something you never knew before. Working together as a team helps out the company and helps out your work load. I have always been a team player, and love working with others.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone does have its benefits as well. When working alone sometimes you can accomplish more then you would working with others, because you can focus all your energy on the one task and you wouldnt need to discuss it with anyone else.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experiance ever was actually last week. I was working at Sears (where i am an Administrative Assistant) and i was calling a coustomer to let him know his Fridge was now available for pick up. It was then that the coustomer started yelling at me and saying that he will tell me when his fridge will be ready for pick up and that he wants me to hold it for another month. Very politly i told the man that we can only hold items for 1 week. This man was not impressed and wanted to talk to my boss and get me fired. I then transferred him over to my boss who told the man, just what i had said. The man then wanted to talk to me again and he then said sorry.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Learn from your mistakes, and dont do it again!

What unique skills do you have?

I can talk a lot.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Carpenter, or gym teacher.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

-Shipping and Receiving (Because I love all the machines that come in and out of our yard) - Anwering the phones ( might sound funny, but i talk with over hundreds of people a day and each one is so different then the last, you never know who will be on the other end until you answer it)

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

-Matching P.O.'s and Invoices -Making Coffee

Why would we want to hire you?

You would want to hire me because i am determined, punctual, enthusiastic and i show much potential. I will work overtime/weekends if needed. If behind even a little bit I will not take my breaks to get finished what needs to be done. I will never show up late for work, ever! You would want to hire me, because I can help benifit your company and be part of your team.

How can potential employers contact you?

please contact me through email;

Thank you for your time, I hope to hear from you soon!

Regards,

Melissa Olson Edmonton, Canada (looking for job in the Netherlands)
