Nvq level 3 in joinery 15 years experience in the trade, 1st n 2nd fix bench work. skilled in the making and fitting of stairs. steel work frames. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? having qualified in nvq level 3 in college i wouldnt have started off with out formal education but having 1(years experience in the trade i rely and feel i learn more skills by beeing out there everyday hand on.In my line of work i consider a skill to be an advantage but alo think education can be a great start to a working mans life. Describe the benefits of working with others i like to think of my self as a verry motifated person who can work well on instruction or as part of a team, i suppose the biggest bonus of working as a team is the job tends to get done quicker. wich helps if there is a deadline from a customer on a renovation project for example Describe the benefits of working alone For the past 4 years i have worked alone in most joinery jobs taking on an assistant joiner when needed. Ilike the challenge of being my own boss arranging suff my self and only having to rely on my self to get the job done. What was your worst working experience? Working on a project and on complition the customer i invoiced had gone away on holiday and never payed for the work or materiels What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? to contract the job before hand i think this is a bonus for both myself and customer they know what there getting and i know what im expecting hopefully both parties should be happy at the end of the job; What unique skills do you have? I specilaise in making and installing internal stairs, i have had a lot of experience in this and can make verry simple stairs to something a little more artie and creative what ever the client requiers What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I enjoy renovation projects a chane to get creative and do something different, mabey a large timber framed renovation or a unique type building that would requier a long term joiner. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Working in different places, seeing different faces each job brings a different challange wich i love What are the least interesting aspects of your field? i enjoy most my jobs wich is why i want to stick tothis tread, but i suppose doing small things like skirting boards wooden floors can get repetitive, but im willing to do any jobs that pay the bills really lare or small.
