Application for Teaching English Job

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job where I could particularly be most efficient personally and achieved excellently as regards to qualitative outputs and results. This job has to be in line with my teaching Social Sciences or English subjects such as Business English and Literature or Grammar.

What nationality are you?

I am a Filipino.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Highly Proficient in the English Language both orally and written. I scored a 95.56% in a Self Assessment Test in English Proficiency given by the government of the Philippines.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I would be grateful if given the chance to work with Europeans particularly German, Dutch or Swiss. Their languages has fascinated me and would love to bridge the language gap. I would love to learn their languages too on a personal note. Europe itself has fascinated me as a growing kid and hopeful to see in person.

What field do you currently work in?

Education. I am presently employed as a Social Science and an English Teacher in High School and College here in the Philippines and I tutor to fellow teachers in English Proficiency as a Mentor under the National English Proficiency program of the Philippine Government's Department of Education.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked as a freelance journalist and writer and published one book. I continually served as consultant to brooding writers particularly in descriptive or narrative and in analytical research. I have also worked as Choral Master

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and English. I hold s Masters Degree in Education I have Certificate in Teaching Social Sciences I have a Diploma in Music and Choral Conducting. I am a licensed Teacher

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Skills since, formal education though it is needed when applying for a job is in paper alone. However, a job seeker has to have both but both should compliment its other. A skilled person gets the work done while a learned one knows how to get he job done. In short, each one is both necessary.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others has enormous benefits if one makes use of efficiently the principles and practices governing it. Having a work done is easier when we smoothly work with others. We can't beat deadlines because these others could help us fast track the details of the work. In coordination with others, we achieved qualitative outputs or results, Remember the saying, "two heads is better than one!" When we have others, we can consult with them on their expertise so we unburden ourselves with having to work alone. These others around our respective workplaces are our partners to achieving whatever goals and and purposes we aspire to get.

Describe the benefits of working alone

There are people however who wish to work alone and had produce excellent results. Scientists especially on their field of expertise could best work by themselves or even writers could best concentrate in what they writing when alone. Even entrepreneurs of big corporations prefer to work alone inorder to arrive at a wise decision. Judges or lawyers do their research by themselves in order to study their cases from many angles. Working alone although is not the end in itself.

What was your worst working experience?

It was when I have to wake up at 2 o'clock in the morning to beat deadlines in preparing a feasibility study to be submitted for possible funding from a foreign benefactor.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

To budget time wisely. When we do not stick to our schedule, we ruin our plans and lose great opportunities. Another is, to push myself to achieve and produce results that are par excellent. I learned these two very important lessons in my life the hard way when I dawdled in getting my masters degree and was just contented with good enough results in what I do then. This cost me a bypass in promotion and lose the opportunity to earn more. Lastly, it is a lesson on having the always in you, a great passion for work. Now that i have instilled this in my self, i can both do the two lessons I stated earlier. Today, work to me doesn't bore but an enjoyable part of my being.

What unique skills do you have?

I can put my ideas well in both oral and written. I construct sensible and creative paragraphs without much effort. I also can organize a choir and teach them music in soprano, alto, tenor or base even without the musical notation. I play the guitar well. I can do landscaping and stage decoration and interior design. There are many special skills one can do once he believes he can do it.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

A teaching job in English or Social science where I could employ my special skills for my students to learn best and produce tangible results in themselves and in their future careers. It would be great if I can be this especially with foreign students who speaks a native language apart from English, this way, i can challenge myself to learn form them as well (to have a non-formal education as Linguist).

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Education as a field of study and career has always fulfilled me both personally and professionally especially in teaching English and Social Studies. Personally, I have always been fascinated with mankind, his beginnings, his actions and his relationship with other human beings. Professionally, through education, I believe I have the power in my hands to bridge the gap between peoples and make them realize how to be tolerant of others, how to be open-minded to what is strange to them and make them realize that all people are unique, special, have needs, have emotions, have dreams and aspirations and that all are one in a desire to be happy and to live in a world of peace and prosperity. Education as field of study makes the the world smaller and better!

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Well, not much that I know except for the poor incentives and benefits package for teachers. Bureaucratic redtape too has made the field of education a far last in course preference as regards to hiring, and promotion.

Are you willing to undergo training if your application is accepted in any of the countries you have mentioned?

As an educator, I would be very much willing to undergo any training to prepare me best for the job. I believe, education is a continuous process so that training is salient to one in the field. Personally, trainings are geared towards professional excellence which has always been a goal in my practice of the profession. That is, getting the best for my growth as a teacher in order to bring out the best in my students!
