United States of America What field do you currently work in? Surgical Oncology Nursing What fields have you worked in before? Mental Heath, Burn Unit, Oncology, Acute Rehab. What qualifications do you hold? CPR, Licensed Practice Nurse, Certified Nurses Assistant 2. I am a hard worker, fast learner, patient advocate, compassion, education to the human body, easy to get along with, and a great team player. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe you learn more while working then you do in a formal education setting. Working with people and figuring things out that were never presented in school is what has made me confident and a valuable member of a nursing team. Describe the benefits of working with others Having a strong team can get you through anything on the worst of days. Being able to rely on your team is something that every unit must have in order to get every patient their optimal treatment they deserve. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone reassures you that every choice you made was yours, and nobody else. You must be confident and accountable for all decisions you make. What was your worst working experience? In general, loosing lives is the worst day for me. I have learned how to become stronger because of it, but it still is never an easy time for staff or family. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I have learned that when you don't know something, to always ask and know who and what your resources are to figure it out. When working with human's lives it is so much more important to take an extra few minutes and make sure everything your doing is right and in the best interest of the patient. What unique skills do you have? I have compassion that sets me aside from other people. I am there to help these people in need, in whatever way that is, and keep them them healthy, happy, and work together to achieve the goals set. I learn quickly and never let a job go unfinished. I take pride in my work and hold myself accountable for all actions I take. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working in Curacao has been a dream. So finding work in this beautiful country, and experiencing another view in health care. I have passion for OB, mental health, pediatrics and am always open to new experiences as well. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The people. Humans are unpredictable and keep you constantly thinking, asking questions and wondering more about medicine and life itself. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The down time that comes at rare times. Nursing is so fast passed and busy that it catches me surprises to have slower moments. What are your future goals? My goals are to enroll in the next 3 months into an LPN to BSN program online to further my education why I continue to work, learn, and grow while working in Curacao.
