Seeking teaching and/Or tutoring job

What type of job are you looking for?

The kind of job that I am looking for is one that enables me to work with students to achieve his/her highest potential. I studies English Literature and Language at University and complete a masters degree on the same subject. I also studied one extra year on Teaching English as a foreign language at University. As an experienced educator, I would like to find a teaching job that involves teaching the English language to any age groups. Also, I would like to find a job teaching any subject matter on the elementary (1 - 8) level.

What nationality are you?

I'm Turkish

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Turkish is my mother tounge. English is my proficient language. German is my third language and is at advanced level.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

The country/area that I am looking to work in is the Netherlands Antilles. I lived in Saint. Maarten for a year with my family in 1997. I had to return to Turkey due to my family's bussiness. I completed my university eductaion in Turkey and would like to live in the Nerherland Antilles which I fell in love with. I believe I could contribute in a way that would help the residents of this beautiful island in a positive way. Being an educator and having a love for teaching, I feel that my expertise and desire to make a difference in any one persons life would be a great reward for both the educator and the student.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in Turkey.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

none. Only in my own country.

What field do you currently work in?

I currently work as a certified English teacher.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked as an English teacher, experienced in all levels and in all age groups including young learners. I have gained five years of experience as an English teacher both in private schools and universities in Turkey.

What qualifications do you hold?

The qualifications I hold are as follows:

Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, Master's degree in English Language and Literature, Associates degree in Teching English as a Foreign Language.

one year of teaching at a private high school, 1 year of experience at a University and three years of teaching at Private English Language teaching courses.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I believe that Formal eductaion is far more important since it enables the individual to take one of the first steps to become a professional in his or her field and career. a formal eductaion enables the person to become a well educated individual. Skills, on the other hand, are also important for a person, since I believe that they support the success in one's formal eductaion and help the person reach success.

Describe the benefits of working with others

The benefits of working with other lies in learning how teamwork works and in being able to observe other point of views that enrich the person with a broader perspective of life. Working with others makes the person develop an open mind to criticism. The variety of opinions enables the person to learn from others and to improve under the light of other opinions.

Describe the benefits of working alone

The benefits of working alone is building confidence. Concentration is one of the most important factors of teaching since the teacher is alone in class while communicating to students. Working alone also enables a person to create and develop his or her own style in a specific field.

What was your worst working experience?

I came across my worst working experience in my first year of teaching at a private highschool. I had a 12 year old female student in my class with serious psychological problems. She was continually biting her nails, and she was suffering from nervous breakdowns. I spoke to the school's psychologist and asked her to have sessions with the students. We later found out that the student was sexually harrassed by her own father. I immediatelly informed the school management and the related government units. They arrested the father and supplies the student and her mother with governmental support. I could not believe how a father could harress his own child in such a way. This made me realize how important my job was as a teacher. I started to work harder in trying to make a difference in the lives of my stdents.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

the most important lesson I have learnt throught my career is that each student is an individual and that the shape of their individuality lies in their family and cultural background. I never generalize a class and try to reach each student individually. I know that I can not make a difference in the lives of all my students but I still try my best to reach as many as possible.

What unique skills do you have?

I have skills in teaching English as a foreign language by making the students percieve the own logic of the language. I focus on speaking, pronounciation and being able to carry out a conversation in the language.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job would be to teach in the Netherlands Antilles where I can motivate both myself and my students and make a difference in the world.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

The most interesting aspect of my fieldis that you become able to formulate the way a person thinks by teaching them the logic of another language. You teach a person to communicate in a language foriegn to them and get fascinated by the improvement.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

The least interesting aspect of my field is paperwork. I am not the kind of person who would enjoy to sit and do paperwork such as writing curriculums or lesson plans. I like to be active in class.
