Teacher VacanciesWhat type of job are you looking for? I am interested in teaching Social Studies or Sociology. What nationality are you? My nationality is Guyanese. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak English Language fluently, but I am currently learning Spanish. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I am looking to work in any part of the Netherland Antilles because I am generally interested in working with people of different cultures, and people of Dutch origin in particular because my great grandmother was of Dutch origin. What countries have you worked in? I have only worked in Guyana. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I possess no visas to work in any (foreign) country. What field do you currently work in? I am currently working in the field of Education. What fields have you worked in before? I have not worked in any other field but Education. What qualifications do you hold? I hold these qualifications: -a Trained Teacher's Certificate -a Certificate in Education -a Bachelors Degree in Education. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider both Formal Education and Skills to be interlinked as such very valuable.In my view none supercedes the other.Universities are offering Degree Courses in Skills Education; and one must read for a Degree,which makes the skill under study, formal. Examples of degrees in skills are Information Technology, Industrial Electricity,and Chemical Engineering, to list a few Formal Education skills. Describe the benefits of working with others Some benefits of working with others are: -having access to many opinions, techniques and/or methodology -engaging in constructive criticisms -learning from others and about others socially, emotionally and intellectually -assisting others who may be in doubt about which direction to follow -sharing in a wealth of memorable and rewarding experiences. Describe the benefits of working alone Some benefits of working alone are: -being able to hold focus on the task at hand -being able to employ my own strategy to your own advantage -being able to use the method of trial and error effectively to chart the way forward -being able to constantly evaluate and re-evaluate my techniques/methods. What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience was when a thirteen year old female student who, on arrival home one night, told her parent that she fell ill and had to be taken to hospital by me. The mother telephoned the school the next day and told the Senior Mistress that I had no manners as I did not notify her. But I had no knowledge of such an incident where I took that child to any hospital. The child later admitted that she had lied. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important lesson that I have learnt throughout my career is that I must not form opinions based on face value. I must always investigate deeper to get a very good understanding of what I am dealing with. What unique skills do you have? I believe that I have the unique skills of guiding, counselling, planning and implementing my plans, predicting and assessing outcomes. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I would consider getting the opportunity to teach students in the area of interest(Netherland Antilles), as my 'dream job' What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspects in my field are - helping weak students to become literate -preparing students for CXC examinations -going on Educational Tours -seeing and sharing the joy when students have been successful at their educational endeavours. -self assessment to determine whether I am fulfilling my job requirements and meeting the needs of the students. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I believe all aspects of my field to be very interesting whether they be the accompanying records, practical teaching, research work, field trips or any other related activity.
